reedblock restriction

ok on your derestiction guide you say that the rubber needs to be cut from the reedblock to stop the mixture being channeled at the tip of the reeds which resricts the flow (aparently), but iv heard bad things from people who have tried this, saying they lost alot of torque and shortly after the top end went?? so im just looking for opinions from people who have tried this/know it works?

thanks,

oh btw when removing the snorkel from airbox do you lose any bottom end power or need to re-jet at all, cheers

hi ya i did pull the snorkel out and the bike sounds much nicer and seems to have all the power it had before and more im sure.i tried the greenred wire move but that does zero but put the red over heat ligt on i have also taped up that funny lookin bottle of air that is screwed to the frame and that seems to have also helped like the good man andrew said in derestricting 04 models .i managed to remove the snorkel with out cutting by pulling and twisting out would love to have a go on the dyno to prove the increase do you know where there is a cheap dyno test.

the bottle on the airbox and the yeis boost bottle are there for a reason, i tried with both off and 1 on/1 off, it ran worse without them, massive loss of torque and just a waste of time! if you look on google about the history of the yeis system it tells you its there for a reason

I've done what you've just described in the original post - there is no loss of torque, infact I'd say more, with PV server connected and disconnected. Actually re-shaping it is a pain in the arse, at first I just cut it flush with a stanley knife because I couldnt be arsed to re-shape it into technically a funnel working the other way, I noticed a difference in engine performance from this mod' and a couple of days later I decided to complete the mod' and spent about 30mins carefully shaping the rubber with a stanley knife into the recommended shape, along with new Boyeson reeds that area of bike is completly satisfactory in terms off maxium performance.
Ps. The YEIS bottle should not be removed, the airbox one should be removed taped up (not excessively as it won't go back in) and replaced.
