hello i was wondering if anybody can help me with my yamaha dtr 125,it is a 2000 w, ive had it about six months and it has a big one silencer with what i believe to be the standard front pipe (been operated on id say)  just lately the powervalve (only now and then) seems to be struggling, and the exhaust is sounding muffled and restricted like a standard pipe, i have to really screw it at times and then out of nowhere the powervalve will fire on and its off again then for no reason the exhaust goes really tinny like a rm i dont really mind that it sounds ok but as soon as the powervalve kicks in it starts to run fine again im thinking it wants de cokin or do you think carb or even spark plug ......this only happens when the bike has been ridden and is hot goes from fine to muffly to really tinny to fine to muffly...!!! you get the picture it runs fine otherwise and doesnt cut out help plz its gettin me down cheers

Sounds like the powervalve is at fault some where. Have you checked the workings of it like cable tensions and valve alignment? Might be the valve bushings have gone.
Just a thought but check the header bolts on the exhaust. Mine have come loose one day and it was like riding a bucking horse.....took me ages to track the problem!

Let it warm up prior to riding it, i to had this problem because i used to jump on a ride with out giving the engine chance to warm up.
Also charge the battery, if its slightly low that can to effect it. (speaking from experience with the same problem)

hi, I also am having power problems with my 2003 dt 125. I've been reading up on the power valve and servo system. which mine has, but it is off road spec with no battery or main wiring loom. so the servo is not working. is there any way i can get around this problem without fitting a wiring loom / battery??

disconnect the sero and open the powervavle manually.
If you look on the main part of this site i believe there is a diagram/picture for doing this.
