hi all just after some advice iv got a 56 plate 125x and some times when i nail it through the gears when i get into 6 th around 70 mph the revs start dying off and the bike starts slowing down to around 55 but at other times it pulls round to nearly 85 mint ive done the earth wire thing and got more air flow and i ve de restricted the standard front pipe just wondered if i need it jetting up whats involved and is it exspensive any advice would be appreciated
Hi mate,i have the same thing with my 94 dtr,if you have the bike de restricted(the exhaust etc) it will die off in top gear if you dont keep the revs up,im not sure upjetting will make any difference.
Yes it does if i dont catch it at at least 7k,my bike will do 80mph but if i dont hit high revs when i change to 6th mine too goes down to 55/56mph,you will get used to it,as soon as you change to 6th give it alot of throtle straight away instead of going through the revs slowly and try to keep at least 8k it should be fine then.
Hi mate i have the same problem with my dtr125x it revs fine upto fifth i get about 68 in fifth right in the band change to 6th gear and it just dies back to about 50-55 even though ive got it pinned . why wont it rev out in top?
hi all i took my bike to my local bike shop a couple of weeks ago and was gona see about getting a bigger jet put in it cos id de restricted the stock front pipe and it had started dying out top end.The guy in the shop took a look at it and said it did nt need a bigger jet so he cleaned the carb out for me while it was off and its not had any problems since it touches 85 easily now every time so maybe that has something tgo do with the top end dying off crap in the carb
hi mate To your answer about ****e in the carb it revs fine in every gear apart from 6th like i said it does 68 in 5th and all that has been done is a dep system i dont know if the earth wire has been done i will have to check. thanks buzz
add 1 tooth to the front sprocket at the very most, fitting bigger front/smaller rear sprockets on a DT will not improve your top speed and you will cause it to bog down in top gear. The theory is correct but a DT simply cannot produce sufficient power to benefit from the lengthened gearing... so just add 1 tooth to the front sprocket and this should help you out...
When you get new chain and sprockets get a few front sprockets so you can experiment.
When I pegged the PV opne on an old DT-R it could not pull top - dropped the theoretical top speed down by lowering the gearing and bingo I actually ended up with a faster DT as it could now stay in 6th.
