mate i got a ally plate that will fit behind the regi plate and the l plate sticks to it at bottom, looks 10 times better if your interested? can send a pic too
heres a pic of the one i had on a old dt, the one i would give you is brand new but its not to hand right now, its in my lockup so will grab tmrow if your interested, here is the general idea tho, its basically the same but new not used
up to you mate,i say anywhere apart from under the regi plate can be dodgy, really depends on the copper that pulls you to be fair as i know a few who have them on mudguard, fender and have never been pulled but others who have been done several times,
what i used to do is put a strip of tape on the bottom of my regi plate then carry a 'L' plate in my pocket at all times
if the copper pulled me i would say i did have one on there but it just come off so ive just this second gone and bought a new one
here it is in my pocket!just going home to fit it now
that way i didnt have to have the ugly looking thing on my tail end lol

or
i just noticed my 'L' plate is missing, im on route to my freinds house to get some tape off him as there is no shops open
alrgt mate, get a peice of wood, get your old chain and wrap it around sprocket, pull the 2 parts of chain down to the wood and fix a screw through them, this will hold them in place then undo the bolts
