Sorry but past pics will be down for a short while . I exceeded my monthly photobucket allowance . Opened another and will have to take less pics . I wont erase past pics because in a couple weeks they'll be back to normal
1) When I took the forks off the bike I didn't strip them down , just twisted the top cap and oil came out . Seals are fine and I just want to replace the oil that came out . anyone know how much it's meant to hold ( oz ) ? Hope you know the bit I'm on about , the shiny sleeve that drops down .
2) What size Renthal bars I'm I supposed to be getting , when I order them I have no idea .
3) Is there a trick to getting the forks back into the yokes . I tried doing it for mock up and it was a tight fit to say the least
4) What things are checked in an MOT ? Obviously I need those bits to be up to scratch .
5) Anybody got a pic of the battery tray ? Mines broken and have no idea how it's meant to look .
6) Is replacing the wheel bearings a garage job ? They seem fine but will replace if it's easy enough .
7) Where do I get braided brake hoses from ?
8) Who really shot J.R ?
9) The wire that goes from the sensor to the brake pedal , how the hell does it attach to the pedal ? lol ... Forgot how
10) Why are the handlebar clamps so crap ? I thought they'd have rivets in them or something for extra security !!
11) Right where the rear shock attaches to the frame .. there's 2 holes on the left hand side ( in the frame ) ... wtf goes there ?
1) I'll check in the manual tomorrow 2) You want 7/8 renthal bars.High rise or low rise is up to you 3) The forks are a tight fit cos you didn't mask the inside of the yokes. The layer of paint has reduced their diameter.Very carefully with a large screwdriver gently prise the yokes apart while sliding the fork in.Cover the tip of the screwdriver with leather to prevent paint damage 4) All suspension, brakes and electrics need to be up to scratch. The rule is a perfectly functioning bike will have no problems. There are online MOT test guides available 5) I aint got a pic but it is literally a tray that bolts to the airbox 6) Wheel bearings are a doddle.Use a large screwdriver to tap them out from the opposite end.You will have to move the spacer inbetween the bearings to one side usually 7) Any hydraulic specialists can knock up lines for you.Or get in touch with Goodridge,Earls or Braided Steel. You tell them the length you need and they will make them to order 8) ? 9) The brake light switch attaches to the pedal by a long metal rod looped at both ends with a kink in it.You know the one i mean! 10) The clamps are plenty strong enough.Just make sure the clamps are tightened evenly and you'll have no hassles 11) If its what i'm thinking its where the chain roller goes.A nylon wheel on a bracket. The chain runs over the roller to keep chain tension ok.Theres another one above the swingarm too.
Right , things have been bugging me all night and it looks like i'm going to have to bite the bullet .
Forks will be stripped coated and new seals etc put back on
Yokes will be coated , unfortunately that means getting the bearing removed ... and refit .
And wheels will be stripped , hubs coated and new spokes .
All this obviously puts me back but I dont care , it's gotta be done .
It's cost me about £30 in paint so far so its not that bad a loss and at least I know what it'l look like .
The reasons why are these ... powdercoat obviously lasts longer , i'll get a closer match to the white frame , and it'l keep bugging me .
Stripping it all back down now and will get quotes tomorrow for coating . The wheels i'll deal with later as its going to cost a bit more to strip and build them .
Thanks for the pic mate , need the rear of it though lol
Went to Yamaha today and picked up some more bolts , while I was there I spoke to service and they're going to strip the forks and yoke for me . I'll take the bits away , get them coated and they'll reseal them etc . They're booking it as a 30 min job so I can get it done sooner than later . ( I still don't have proper tools yet )
Bloody bodyshop want £80 to repaint the tank
Anyways I've been making a shopping list of all the bits I'm going to need . Oh yeah remember that receipt ? Stuff still hasn't turned up yet , held up in Holland !!
1) Gonna need some new bars , Renthal titanium it is . No I don't want any other colour .
2) Liking the Renthal grips ... unless someone can suggest better . I've read about Pro Grips but I prefer the look of the Ren's
3) UFO front fender
4) Braided hoses front and back
5) Wavey disks
6) Acerbis fork gaiters
7) A DEP pipe rear
8) Rear fender like so
9) A riser kit if I can find one reasonably priced
10) OEM parts , few bolts, nuts , bearings , clips , wires , side plastics , battery tray , levers , maybe both master cylinders , maybe a throttle lever with electrics ( horn etc ) , spokes , petrol tank cap ... plus lots more
your a nutter m8 but i love it i recon this could become one of the best restorations ive seen in a while i take it you are gonna be getting new plastics are you sellin your old ones?
The wire that hangs down and attaches to the pedal , I need to see the rear of the pedal to see how the wire attaches to the pedal .
Yeah ridden forever mate just never bothered to sort out my own bike .... but ....
I almost forgot , i had a bike before
A midimotor 100cc ( apparently ) . Got it about 5 years ago when I was going through another building phase . I built RC cars for a bit and of course had to go too far  . Down at the tracks people were racing smaller ones ( the ****ty loud minimotos ) .. so I had to up the ante
Check em out ...
No idea what the bike really was but I saw it and had to have it .
Rode it maybe 4 times  ... sold it about a month later for what I paid so no loss there
Serpent 710 fully hopped up
Hyper 7 Pro Uk ( with added 2nd gear , it flew !! )
Built a few otheres mrx4 , 950 , and crappy electric ones .
cool m8 i used to race nitro i had a hopped up hyper 7 (tbh as usual i went silly and ended up with about 7 cars) was fun while it lasted but are local track closed and i lost interest and sold em all on e bay i have been getting the itch lately and been looking on e bay for another
I Love The Cars .... Superb ... What sort of CC - Actual Speed - Scale Speed are we talking about here ... ?
No .. the cbt thing had me into panic mode ... I imagined for a min' there that you were going to take to the roads on the 'Uber Rebuilt DT' as an out & out newbie !! Woblin & a weavin, Binning & a bargin' ... Sorry m8 .. but we would have had to have formed a rescue group & head down south & rescue the Golden Child of a bike !!!
How much you spent on Yammy parts recently ???
Looking Reaaaaallllyy Good now !

im guessing them ball bearings in the bag are for the headstock just out of interest what did they cost you i always get stuff like that from my local push bike shop recon there the same thing and was wondering what kind of weird and wonderful price yamaha charged
The balls were 8p each mate . Today I managed to spend f'all
Check it out ....
I'm going supermoto
**** it i've checked out the costs of doing the wheels how I want them and I'm looking at near £400 .
New alu rims £200 SS spokes £120 Hub coated £30 New tyres £100 Discs £130 Bearings £27
Soooo , I want to try looking at the supermoto route . Don't know squat about it though , what needs changing etc . I'd prefer a swap of just wheels etc and not forks or swingarm .
Anyone know what models to look at where it'll be a straight swop ?
I know I've asked once before but wasn't really interested in doing it at the time .
Now I am
Seen these but not sure about fitment etc ... and I'd prefer them newer .
what exact model am I looking for , that's pretty much a straight swop of wheels , brakes and spindles ?
IF the forks have to be changed ( hope not as im currently paying to have mine split , coated and refit ) ( oh and also had to buy a new bearing in the end   ) .... what forks am I after ? Yokes too ?
