hi everyone i got my plastics back after they were given to the guy 2 mounths ago..check out the pics he done them ****e....they are all grainy & dont have the finish i am after..he didnt sand them before painting..anyone tell me how to prepare them so i can do them myself as the finsh sucks..here is the pics alza

painting is all about the prepwork to start with you will need some wet and dry paper you can get it from halfords start by rubbing down with a course grit paper to get rid of the marks then finish with 1200 grit to get it nice and smooth dont be tempted to use an electric sander as it will burn the plastic do it all by hand paitience is a must you wont get it done in 5 mins the longer you spend on the prep the better quality the finish will be
if you want a pro job done i can put you in touch with someone reliable who's work has been mag featured but you gotta be prepared to spend some money
thanx for the reply i didnt pay the guy!!i said to him that i would prepare all the plastics as i wanted em looking good..he said no its ok i will do all that...the pics dont actually show how ****e the job is the back panel what holds the light has chips out the plastic its shocking think i may have too replace the back panel..but anyway i will get some sand paper and see if i cant fix em..do i need to sand all the paint off too respray em..cheers alza
flat the surface nice and smooth with 320 grit wet and dry be careful not to go to far and through to the plastic as you ll have to plastic prime the bits again and its a right pain cos the plastic they are made of is not to good you can then re paint them then or if you want a really good smooth finish you ll have to re prime them with a couple of coats of high build primer and then rub them down again with 320 grit wet and dry make sure you leave the primer for at least a good hour to harden first then wipe them down with some panel cleaner ie white spirits or some thing to make them nice and clean then you can paint them just spray them with nice light coats of colour and build it up that way till its covered leave about 10 to 15 mins inbetween coats and remember to spray your bits at room temperature or a little more or the paint sometimes reacts hope this helps
