HELP PLEASE - Damn thieves
Permalink

after a beloved year of belting round town on my dt i got it deristricted and i guess the wrong person saw me on it.  anyway, the garage was broken into and they tried to rob my bike.  the muppets didnt realise i had a proper lock through the front break disk and although they gave up and i still have the bike, they have bent the break disk

does anyone know if i can just get a new break disk? if so, how much is one or does anyone know where i can find price of spares etc?  i have riden it like this, am i likely to have damaged the caliper and will i need a new one?

i am a beginner so would appreciate any help.

thanks
c

your caliper will be fine as long as your pistons in it still move frealy, the pads however could be scrubbed on the edges so might need to be replaced, check by undoing the 2 bolts on forks an have a look to see if they straight, the disc is easily replacable, if you get trouble finding one i have a very good condition one here mate, let me know how you get on, would be happy to help you fix it

hi all

thanks for all your help.  i do apologise for not thanking you earlier, i thought i had, but obviously hadnt.
i ended up buying a new one for £50 from the local dealer, it was a universal break disk and easy enough to change once the front wheel was off.

thanks again
m
