How have these seats been done?

I found this image from another topic 01042009020.jpg
Im just wondering what they have done the designs on the seats, they look like vinyl stickers just suck onto the seats almost? Either way it looks fantastic and really modernises the out of date dt seat!

Im really interested in doing it myself.

Look custom , stickers wouldnt work . That has somehow been stiched into the seat cover .

Best bet is to buy a DT cover that's already formed , then get a specialist to sort it out for you .

There are aftermarket covers you can buy with graphics already on them

Ok am I just being really thick, but all those seat covers seem to be for YZ's and such none of them say they will fit a DT? Ive never seen seat covers with nice graphics and colours on like those for the DT?

That's why it's all custom from here on in man , these feck all out there for a DT other than wht you've already seen . The only way you're going to be different is by making the effort . A few new graphics etc would work but I'm guessing you want an overall change .

Also remember Portugal is a lot hotter than over here so I'm sure stripping bikes for custom jobs is a lot easier over there lol . You can get a good result just like those guys but from the jump I suggest you realise there isn't much out there specifically for the DT . It's not a hardcore offroad bike so i guess companies didn't see the point in making lots of after market bits .

It's also not a street bike so those bits wont fit either , it'll take custom to be different imo confuseconfuse

Aye I know what you mean bud, Im willing to go for it and make a custom seat cover, alongside getting my mum to do some stitching lol.

Its just sourcing the material which I mentioned on your build page. Its so hard to find the stuff!

The guy down by me sells siht loads . All types and not that bad in price . I got my anti-slip stuff for £15 a metre ( plenty left over if you make a mistake ) , but other types cost even less .

If you're really stuck I can try and help . As in I buy it and mail it to you , this isnt the sort of place that will bother with mailing bits of fabric out , I asked lol

Let me know

I may well take you up on that offer bud, I will try everything I can think of first though so you dont have to bother.

There are plenty of MX places that recover seats for you, do a search and you will find some where that can re-do yours however you want it.

I want mine doing later with gripper panels / alcantara etc

You can make YZ seat covers using a heat gun to melt away some of to foam bud?

Have you or anyone got any pictures of a YZ seat cover fitted to a DT?

I have a heat gun so thats a pretty dooable task.

Found a similar black and silver cover! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HOUSSE-SELLE-YAMAHA-125-DTRE-DT-RE-NOIR-2008-2009_W0QQitemZ200357337581QQcmdZViewItemQQptZFR_JG_Moto_Pièces?hash=item2ea63a59ed&_trksid=p3911.c0.m14&_trkparms=65:12|66:2|39:1|72:1683|240:1318|301:1|293:2|294:50 however its the one on the blue bike I really want.

How different are the seats on the latest model compared to my 2003, Im guessing the covers will still fit and they look pretty similar?

Bought some waterproof stuff from a local car refurb warehouse type thing . Trimmed the foam on the seat and just covered it .
