The oil tank is underneath the handlebars on the throttle side(Right). There should be a Metal cover screwed on, Just unscrew that and take the top off and fill it up with decent Oil

hi mate.
someone who owned it before me must have removed it.
i suppose the oil pump must have packed in.
i dont mind putting mixed petrol in tank.
saves having to buy new tank, and pump.
cheers motor crazy.

20/1 but put a little tad more than that to be safe mate, id rather it smoked a little more than over heating a little more

NO NO NO. You will die of lung cancer!
40:1 mix is fine. 1000 ml of fuel divided by 40 gives 25. So 25 ml of oil to every litre of fuel. You can check to see if the pump works. When the engine is running pull the oil pipe off that goes to the intake manifold. If the pump works then there will be oil coming out.Presuming you put oil into the pump first!

heres proof mate that i know what im talking about

http://www.dansmc.com/pre_mix_ratios.pdf

you may find it useful to fallow these guidlines as you wont blow up your engine due to overheating due to lack of lubrication

hope this helps mate

20:1 is 20 parts petrol to 1 part oil.Way way to rich
40:1 is 40 parts petrol to 1 part oil. Much leaner

Even a track 350 lc would need 30:1 at most

The ratio for the 2 stroke engine mixture obviously varies dont it.Stock, big bored, high compression,Single ring, skirted, crank stroke, all play a determining factor and no variables are the same

Trust me son dont play the smartass.Probably owned over fifty bikes cos they all got carboned up?

Use this guide
oil_ratio.gif

As you can see using a 20:1 mix means using 250 ml of oil to 5 litres of fuel. Are you real?
40:1 is fine for a road going dt.Anymore will cause problems of plug fouling and black oily gungy crap blown all over the mudguard/numberplate.

Guys a ****.Hes the reason i dont take my bikes to a bike shop.I fix it myself because i know more than they do and i know that i will do the job right.Search the net all you like for pre mix ratios, you will find i'm right.I take its that why your not going to argue your case anymore right?
You tell people they dont know what there on about when you haven't a clue yourself. If you want to **** your bike up then go ahead.Dont advise others to do the same
The pictures of my bikes are under the topic Other Pics.So not strictly posted on the DT board.
I've been messing with yam strokers for 13 years now.Having 600+cc bikes should show that i dont need to relive my youth.Get a manual and get learning kid
Oh and fuel capacity is 9.5-10L

I dont mind people putting ideas and thoughts across but it winds me up when someone thinks they know it all and will argue with you even though you know your right.I ****ed me ex missus off for the same reason! Sometimes you will learn something new.I sit and listen to more experienced folk. Its the best way to learn

You wont get booted if you arent being the funny ****.Ignorance and attitude gets ya nowhere. If you want help with the bike then ask and you shall receive. You think you can help someone out? Great , but sometimes your info might be wrong. No biggee is it? I get facts and figures muddled up in my 2 stroke smogged brain too.Dont think i sat down with the Yamaha design team when they made the DT either.I dont know everything about 'em
