Hey gang I finally got another swing arm, condition looks very good, just I notice the bloke I got it off, has painted it, but you can see its painted which I wasnt to happy about, shall I just spay hammerite over it a couple of times, or completey grind it back and start again, doesnt look like theres any rust on it at all........... pics below!!!

yeh mate, get some wet and dry fine sand paper and rub it back and get some silver engine paint(high temparature) then give it a few coats then a few coats of lacquer, that will do the job, im doing one as we speak, also buy the plastic hose clips, £2.50 each too, and chuck a couple stainless steel feckers in to secure

there is 2 that i use one is pj1 paints and the other simoniz, ive used both of these now and in the past and they give a really good finish mate

this is what im using at the mo, and also a pic of my swingarm, ps got another 2 coates to do then 3-4 coats of laquer, then job done, but the can is in the pic for reference mate

Wow that looks amazing mate good for you, so I will do a good few coats of the silver engine paint then a good few coats of the lacquer on top then all done seems straight forward mate thankyou so much!!!

yep exactly that mate, id put 6-7 coats on but apply a coat every 30 mins, dont rush it as it will create runs and not settle but thats the same for any spray if you do it right, it doesnt need primer either, you should have seen it before lol

Well to be honest I havent a clue about the paint side of things so this is all new to me, I did look on ebay and you can get the silver lacquer paint or something but its cool i am with you now I will order it all tomorrow thankyou so much for helping top marks :D:D

ooooooooooh 1 more Q mate how many spray cans do I need for the silver engine paint and the clear lacquer they seem to come on 400ml so wanna by the right amount of cans smile.gif

You could send it for powdercoating.Remove the bearings, they will strip the old paint off.Its an awesome finish,so much tougher than paint.Should cost 20-30 quid for a swingarm in silver.
