DEP Silencer + stock expansion chamber fitting issues
Permalink

Just got my DEP silencer today but I went to fit it and I noticed it's not supplied with any holders or anything so it's rather loose at the point where it should attach to the front pipe... I then removed the clip from the stock silencer (which was annoying welded on blankstare) but it's far too big for the DEP silencer.  I've heard of people using the stock front pipe and DEP silencer, but I've never read about any fitting issues...  Can anyone help?  Don't wanna have to bodge it as I know 2-stroke engines rely on the exhaust heavily for power so air leaks are a big no-no.

Cheers.

Here we go:

Stock exhaust:

DEP:

______

The stock one fits down perfectly and attaches tightly as it should, but obviously the DEP one has no way of securing itself to the pipe so there's a slight gap around it... Any suggestions?

I know what a hose clip is but what does a "rubber bung" look like and would it be able to stand up to the temperature?

Strange, Mine just slots into each other with a rubber hose that tightly fits over the joint so it doesnt leak.

Ok cheers, wouldn't know where to even look for one of those :P

A bloke on another forum says he could get me in touch with DEP directly as he lives near by or something... would probably be pricey i imagine

Good good. There weren't any leaks when I whacked the DEP silencer on this morning for a test, but obviously it's best to be safe.

The bike was smokey as **** as well, went away after the engined warmed up though.

That just normal, Warm your bike up for like 5minutes and give it a few revs too like 5k rpm

ok.

Got some lovely thick hose today and some exhaust repair paste too - along with a load of hose clips - should be sealed perfectly.
