yeh.. bit closer.. ignition fitted.. gonna bleed front brake in a min, numberplate bracket sort of sorted but it too much of a pile of **** to fit so I gotta do that again.

rear swinger getting swapped over for the dtx one.. so next pics will be fully converted with all standard dt125x parts apart from the dt125r speedo hub that I got a sneaky feeling is stopping my front axle from bolting all the way in correctly.. seiki can you see some of the thread on the r/h (as you sit on the bike) forkleg where the axle bolts in?

on a DTR forkleg you dont have that bit of thread showing...

No you cant mate , I've not done it FT , but it's close to it and I'd say the spindle is about 2mm away from the edge now . One more 1mm and it still wont be poking out . I had the DTR speedo on at first and even though the things look IDENTICAL , my wheel didn't spin free enough when I tightened it up like I have now . Soon as I fit the DTX speedo it was fine . Also check you're using the DTX spacers mate , obvious thing to say but you know how it goes . These bits are so similar it's easy to get mixed up . I should really mark them tbh .

Small update..

pics soon I promise!!

complete dt125x rear end fitted. practically new relay arm and white chain buffer.

custom diy rear numberplate/tail light bracket finished and fitted. Just need new numberplate..

filled up with some new coolant. Popped in a litre of juice and for a laugh gave it a few kicks.. Started 4th kick (forgot to put choke on 1st kick). Soo its up and running.. No lights as yet, ignition not wired up (looms been chopped and needs looking at and its pissing me off tbh), kill switch not wired and stalls when I put it into gear.. (clutch cable seems to be wrong)..

Clutch plates might be stuck from lack of use.

maybe but im fairly certain its the cable.. its on max adjustment and didnt have a little nipple on the end so I think its a TZR cable...

will bump it and see if it frees up..

Well I'm busy DIY'ing and garden clearing (for a workshop yay!) so the DT is gathering dust right now :(

All I'm stuck on is;

Headlight brackets = need to some how make R and X join together
Vapor dash lights = need to wire up to DT electrics properly (brand new loom)
Indicator relay = wrong connector so needs mods to suit loom

Fit;

Speedo cable extension = I'm working from rear wheel not front so its too short
Front brake light switch = on way from Yamaha
Vapor remote switch = coz its trick and can control speedo from left bar

Figure out;

YPVS cables

If only I could work on the bike indoors as it would be done by now :(

thought Id put up some newer pics but I hadnt!

have actually made a bit more progress...

Resprayed/welded headlight bracket, fitted new headlight and cowl, tightened up steering bearings but there is movement somewhere and I cant pinpoint it. I think it might be fork bushes. (hope not),

*Fully stripped and reprayed frame (stoneguard), Zinc plated sidestand (resprayed also), zinc plated rad/oil tank brackets (resprayed also), zinc plated foot pegs.

*07 DTX swingarm & relay arm, 06 DTX wheels & Pirelli sport demons, 02 DTR rear axle, chain adjusters, new axle collar (had to be imported from japan....) 07 DTX forks & front axle, resprayed original 89 fork clamps & new top nut/handlebar clamp bolts.

*New Hel braided hoses (red banjo's), new EBC brake pads, 07 DTRE rear master cylinder, 07 DTRE real caliper, 06 DTX front caliper, 02 DTR front brake master cylinder, polished cap & new lever.

*02 DTR airbox, new filter, custom alu bung (to block the hole for the boost bottle on the carb>airbox rubber)

*Aftermarket rear mudguard, Polisport SM front mudguard, original headlight cowl, New headlight, resprayed headlight bracket (YZ250 race plate for daylight MOT), New petrol cap, Renthal handbars & bracepad, new Racetech handguards, Apico shorty clutch lever. yeh the booster bottle, deffo should be empty lol, always keep that on at all times bud as when the engine gets starved of air at any point then it will pull the eccess air from there, saves blowing yer engine up smile.gif

no mate I dont have the bottle there.. 89 didnt have that boost bottle.. my original carb>airbox rubber was fckd so I replaced it with a newer one without the bottle and bunged the hole.. wasnt till around 2000 that they had that boost bottle... shouldnt be blocked though. Ive rumours that it increases performance when it is blocked which is why yours might have had tissue in it.. But I dont think it makes a difference.. my 04 has been left standard apart from de-cat, wire trick and dep..

the only way that by blocking the bottle to de res is to block it and remove the snorkel from airbox at the same time, there has been shed loads of people try this and makes un-noticeable differences apart from sound under seat, for the fact it makes no differnce i would stick to what yamaha have designed it for smile.gif not to mention that the snorkel also saves crap being sucked onto your filter smile.gif
