But it's like asking to get Tw@ttted off by some myopic knob who pulls out in front of you ! If you ride around like 99% of DT pilots do round town [c'mon .. we all do it !] then it's when .. not if you get battered .. [even With your headlight on ! worse without] ...
Gotta admit .. i ride round on full beam most days ! unless im 'reet up someones arse in traffic ...
A couple of my other bikes have had a switch under the seat to turn the REAR light off during the day, but leave the headlight on !!! Transition from No Light to Brake Light is better than Rear Light to Brake Light ... .. as far as someone up your ass when you have to drop the anchor ...
Keep your headlight on m8 ... legs are b@stards to mend [not to mention HUGE Black Knackers !!! ]
Im biased mind ! Overtaking row of cars at traffic lights ... cars 6/7 mph .. me 35/40 ? I missed a tiny turn off into someones driveway [A road - driveway - near traffic lights --- Tw@t .. !] Im 5 cars away from front, when 2nd car from front goes for a right turn, across my path !!! He JUST catches sight of me in mirror as he starts to turn ... and slams on .. no fookin way would i have stopped in time .. I do a chicane round his bonnet at 35 ish & carry on with brown undercrackers !
Fookin close, i would have gone right into drivers door !
My fault i know .. but if no lights on [had twin headlights on bike] i would have hit him no question .. !

Yes you could wire a DT-R switch on but you would find a different number / colour wires between the 2 bikes as the DT-RE has hazzard lights wheras the R does not.
Get a wiring diagram if you really want to do it and locate the headlight wires and put a switch into them, probably the neutral black wire would be best as having a switch here would knock out both low and dip beams.
Also I'd only switch the lights off when starting the bike or working in it and not when I was riding it even in daylight hours.
I have a DT-X headlight switch with hazzard lights on it so I assumed that the RE did as well - never looked at an X or RE in the flesh so dont know if they both have them.
