im 99% sure its just your speedo cable has snapped, easy to replace just get a replacement from ebay only take about 10-15mins to fit.
best way to check its the speedo cable is to unclip it from the back of the speedo and unscrew it from the speedo drive(next to the wheel) then hold the top inner part of the cable and try to spin it from the bottom inner part of the cable, if you feel it trying to twist in your fingers at the top its intact and working, if you can spin without it moving at the top then somewhere down the cable its broken, in which case replace it.

yep, as above, just to add if you take the cable off the speedo drive, put the inner part on a drill, look at speedo clocck, turn drill on, if the clocks go up its fine, also if you take the cable off from clock side and spin front wheel if it turns it works, if neither works from each end but the cable is find you can eliminate the 3 ps yes fuse is on solenoid from 2004 onwards looks like a car fuse
lol, if you pull it back through, put the circular bit lower, then where the metal bit is sat on the end of cable, get long nose pliers, grip the inside and turn them out like a mushroom if that makes sense, role the other bit back up then screw it in, saves getn another cable
My speedo doesnt work either it works to an extent like will jump around sometimes it sticks at like 70 even when i have stopped i have bought another speedo cable but hasnt made any difference? can anyone help?
If your speedo cable isn't broke i would say the cogs inside the speedo have broke, i'm not sure if you can repair this you may just have to put a new speedo on.
you could try a speedo drive first tho .. arent expensive and can prob can second hand cheap. my m8s did that and he found out string got inside it the speedo drive and cogged it up ..
just thought, undo the cable from the back of the speedo and push the bike forward if it spins then you speedo drive should be ok and it will be your speedo
