lol, my 175 was bought as a winter hack to save my 'good bike' from the ravages of the winter commutes to work, as time went by more and more 'good bikes' were spared by that little workhorse until in the end i realised that the outcast had indeed become the 'good bike'so with a little care thay can be kept nice even if you do use them, that ones done 38k miles and hardly any of them in the last 10 years now needs a rebore only on 1st oversize.

The new one will deffinately not be left cosseted in a bubble in an airtight bag, i want some fun before i get too old to do so but will try not to feck it up in doing so. however i do think it will have an easier life than the first one because i'm older and softer and i have a pefectly good car too
smile

Well as you might expect with only 90km's on the clock, this bike was dog slow with a capital S !
so i didnt take me long to start to unleash the beast within, I knew there must be some potential from the undisputed respect these little bikes have, after all they even have their own forums biggrin

De-Restrict ops.

1 Remove exhaust header restrictor

2 Position PV in correct place

3 Fit boyesen reeds

4 Modify inlet manifold

5 up-jet from 240 to 250

6 Fit DEP silencer

To do later,
Trim some off the inlet snorkel
Fit new cylinder head model 3MB

Now the bike goes really well, puts a big smile on my face like you guys have known all along, i'm a late starter here but a big fan nevertheless.

DONT TRIM THE INLET MANIFOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

everyone just seems to complain that the bike loses top end, probly not noticeable if youve done evrything at once but doing things one by one you will notice it.

Also 250 jet may be too high, i rode around london with a 240 and fouled my plug so i down jetted to a 220 and now the bike runs perfect.

On the manifold...Fair do's Rudi, I am also sceptical about whether this is a viable mod, however instead of removing all the material such as I have seen on here I decided to only remove a small portion of it, this is in fact how a YZ125 manifold looks so probably wont be all that bad eh?

On the size of the main jet I assume your bike was sized at 210 as standard so 220 would be a good size to have gone to I agree.
However mine has the flat slide carb and is sized as 240 as standard so 250 is also a good size to go to, I would never put a smaller jet in a bike than was fitted as standard, thats just asking for trouble.
wink

well i didnt have my bike from new so im not entirely sure what jet it had from stock, but when i got it it was fitted with a 240 and the plugs coming out of it were drenched, was yours a 240 from stock then?

ah also, would you mind letting me know where you aquired them boyesen reeds, thanks.

It might be that a previous owner thought that going from 210 to 240 was ok, obviously not. I dont know the detail enough yet but mine is a late DTR with the flat slide carb...whats yours?

I got the reeds from a local shop, DT200R reeds. I'm sure any bike shop could get them you. Oh and PJME will certainly be able to supply them.
