hahaha.

fairrrr inuf, not seen on painted b4.
you did atleast take the sticker off beforehand haha??

i think i would leave it abit longer than touch dry. wait until its fully dry, so when the next layer is on it, its dry underneath.

frogboy - what did you paint it with? I fear this is gonna end in tears cos you can't just paint on top of chrome (even DEP ultra-thin type) cos the paint just won't adhere properly. Ideally it needed to go in an acid bath to remove the chrome first!

Bare metal will take high-temperature paint/BBQ paint or **** like that, but chrome...?

See it on the tele? Do me a favour! Next I'll be telling you the best way to compression test is stick your finger in the spark plug hole!! smile.gif

EVERYONE knows that paint needs something to key to, or stick to if you prefer. Bare metal usually requires a primer first - the primer etches itself into the metal and the paint keys to the primer.

VHT paints, due to their purpose, usually prime themselves.

Either way, chrome, which is a very hard metal coating, doesn't lend its to easily priming of any sort - even acid-based etch primers have a hard time with chrome (but does work). If you want to paint something that has been chromed, the best bet is to remove the chrome first.

Do you find spraying a pipe is better than painting it on? Really like that.

I've never painted one before, but i can imagine painting will leave stipes from the brush strokes, the spray was well easy, just shake the can up well before, follow the instuctions on the can, but like malc said in this post, should have preped the crome first and used a heat resistant primer, also the BBQ paint is abit tacky still hope it hardens up abit...

Hope this helps Spartan

@Craig, them smegheads at LMspares sent me the wrong one, anyway i rang them up but thought bollox to them and went to Fowler's in Bristol and got one over the counter, also picked up one of them spark plugs smile.gif if your looking for a gasket get one from here at least they sell them cheaper than my local yamaha dealer confuse

fekin' hell seiki, you better be joking, if i buy anything else for this bike and it don't fit then i may as well just build a differant bike with the bits i've got stored up in the garage wink

@Spartan, about £10 from Fowlers, a Honda dealer confuse sells the yam parts cheaper than the yamaha dealer, work that one out no

bikes back together now, went for a ride just now woop woop
