you know the little cap you unscrew to fill up the gearbox oil, well the tacho screws in just behind that about 3ish inches behind it.

Is there an aftermarket tacho available for the 2004 onwards model?

Can't believe Yamaha ditched it on the RE...

im sure the 03 is electric start only.. maybe wrong... i know the rev counter came off in 04.. EDIT.. yeh they did take em off together.. just looked! hat off to u sir!

you can fit older clocks on a re/x.. and keep the original speedo and have a rev counter, thing is the temp gauge got changed for an led so I dont know if you can still wire that straight to the gauge instead..

they are robbing bastards... You should see the prices of some stuff...

£150ish for an early DT master cylinder
£400-500 for standard exhaust (that one cracks me up!)
£300 (or something) for a dtx forkleg (single)
£60 for metal headlight surround
£15 EACH for suspension collars. You need 2.. and the bolt that runs through them is £10 + £2 for the locknut!?!
£15 a wheel spacer
£30+ for a rear axle
£10 for a brake pad pin!! yet 2x caliper bolts are only £3 a pair?!?

it goes on and on... seiki prob got a right shock when he saw the price of sum stuff..

You gotta realise though yam hardly make much money on a bike.. Its when you kill your starter or chew up a piston and take it to the dealers do yam make crazy money!

Reading with interest,
Personally i think the clocks or should i say clock looks ****e and would definately prefer the earlier clocks with the temp and rev counter.
I was thinking of doing this to mine but the tacho cable housing on the engine has a blank in it so i dont know if the gear is in it or is it a strip down to put the gear in that runs the cable also like mentioned does the temp sender work the same as mine just lights up a led.
Has anyone converted their clocks back to the early ones from 2004 and later??
