Rear Light/brake light not working
Permalink

When my bike was stolen about 4 weeks ago they ripped all the wires out under the clocks. When i got it back i plugged everything back in and all was fine. The next day my brake light/rear light stopped working and hasnt worked since.

I checked all the connections under the clocks again and all seems ok. I traced the wire from the light back to a plug under the seat. I used my multi meter to check continuity from that plug back the the light (leds) which seemed ok so im thinking the problem is further up the bike.

Anyone got any ideas where i should start having a dig around as everything is plugged back in and im sort of stuck!!!

It doesnt come on at all bud. Its a row of LED's which i doubt can be replaced so i suppose if they are gone i need a new tail tidy. Its an acerbis one thats on there.

Is there a way i can test if the LED's have failed? There are 3 tiny resistors on the circuit board the led's are on and ive held 1 end of my mulitmeter on each of the resistors (once at a time) then the other end of the mutimeter on one of each of the wires in the 3 wire connection block under the seat and i get continuity on each of them. That shows me that that section of the wire from the block to the resistors is ok i.e no cracks etc, but i dont think it proves that the LED's actually work or not.

Could all 10 LEDs fail at once tho? Id have thought that would be unlikely.

Hope you can make sense of that!! LOL

Checked everything over and over again so have ordered a new tail tidy to see if its thats at fault. Ive done some other tests and i now think it is the tail tidy at fault. I cant be bothered trying to fix it coz its not road legal and fancy a new one anyway!!

Ive gone for an acerbis one think its the same as woll's looking at his project thread. Heres the tail tidy anyway.

Hehe they make a big difference i rekon!! Looks sooo much better than standard.

My front mudguard is off a YZF 426. I had to use 10mm spacers to drop it down a tad for the headlight surround to fit but you cant see them.
