**** the bed chaps!.. i get a good 100+ miles with out reserve another 30-ish miles with.

im like 16st too!.. and i dont grandad it around either! best i got out of it was 109 miles. around 100 miles to a 9 quid of fuel. (no reserve)

I have a 17th front sprocket, standard rear, on a Vee Rubber tyres. PSI around 25-30, chain is IRIS gold.

why the huge difference is beond me.

i get that on what ever road im on..cornwall full of hills..lol. worst i get is 85 on a tank with out res. deres bike too. Big chaps saves fuel ya know.. coomon guys.. eat pasties and ya getter mpg.. hahah

i really dont know why, unless ur engine is on it last legs like low compression, rings are blowby. The carb is foobar or ya got brakes that hold u back. i dont know. the only other thing is leak in the reeds. Old reeds will not seal on the back compression very well..reed block has stoppers. these need to be at the right hight. does show u in the manual. Crank seal leak also.

Best way is do a plug chop, and a compression test. Ur plug should just be a thorn brown in colour, just v slightly greying. NOT a very light grey! or worst a white! Black sooty type is over fueling. Make sure on a plug chop the engine is well hot and been run for 10 mins on a open road, give it beans for a mile or so 6th gear, pull the cluch in , roll to a stop, engine off, pull the plug out.

bad ecomomy usually over fueling, low compression. low octane fuel. flat tyres! lol

Well i dont know why but this time ive got 68 miles so far to this tank without reserve, only thing i can think of is the fact that i did a few long runs on this tank of fuel did 50 miles the other day on it, where as i normally do 5 miles a day to work and back (2.5 each way) and fuel station is only 6 miles there and back.
Oh and when i did then 50 miles on the way home it had a dicky fit, started spluttering , then sumat started rattling round in my zorst, the temp rose to 1/2 norm sits around 1/4 then it went reaaallllly loud as if it was going to sieze then went fine backfired a few times then was fine all the way home.
Just gona check the spark plug today make sure it isnt running lean or too rich, 2 stoke oil is going down ok and crank case has plenty of oil in.

lol sputter, rattle in exhaust :o, temp shoots up, sounded like it was gonna sieze, backfires few times...

rattle in exhaust is normally only one thing... your piston rings!

backfires are from unburnt fuel..

overheating is either a failure on the coolant side or about to sieze from running very lean (which also would cause stutter/hesitation on accel)..

hasnt it long been rebuilt?

My mpg seems to have changed now. Filled her up strait after i changed the head gasket and fitted freshly skimmed head on thursday afternoon and i did 90 miles before i filled up again and hadnt reached reserves, wasnt far away tho.

Next time i fill up im gonna set the trip clock and run her till shes cuts out on reserves and work out my new mpg. It was about 37mpg last time i worked it out i think, was getting around 70 miles from brimmed to reserves.

My fueling is terrible I have ran out twice and thought it was regular breaking down, my bike doesn't seem to like res at all.
I get silly low MPG where can I get compression tests and things done?
