SEIKI PLEASE MOVE THIS TO THE HOW TO GUIDES SECTION, I WOULD HAVE DONE IT MYSELF BUT IT SAYS I DONT HAVE PERMISSION TO POST IN THERE.
Things youll need: basic hand tools, a dremel(with grinding a cutting bits), chemical metal (halfords £4.49), a piece of metal(i used an old allen key)
Remove the front wheel, locate where the sheared peice of metal would usually sit and cut out the peice of metal.
After that, you need to find/make a peice of metal to fit in the gap you just made that has to stick out a few milimetres, i grinded down and cut up and allen key.
once youve got it down to roughly the size its needs to be clean up the section of the wheel you will be glueing then mix up the chemical metal.
Dip the peice of metal youve cut into the chemical metal mix then locate it in the bit you cut from the wheel.
Let the chemical metal set for about 30mins, go make some dinner or something.
once youve finished eating get your dremel out with the grinding bit on it and grind the excess glue and metal off to make it fit in the speedo drive.

Congrats, your done!!!! now go test it out, doesn't it feel nice to have a speedo again :)

To me bud that is some dangerous ****, you've just taken a chunk out of you hub essentialy weakening it which could be fatal. The forum takes NO responsibility for anybody who follows this and has a accident or any problems.

LOL^^^^^^^ How could that possibly weaken the hub!!!!!!!!!!!! That lip is just what the speedo drive rests over anyway :s Looks like a good ideal mate and glad u got it sorted with minimum cost. Lets hope it holds up

the only reason that part of the hub that i cut is there is to drive the speedo, im not cutting into any of the structural part at anytime.
i took out a 'chunk' the peice i removed was no bigger than 4mm by 5mm and was replaced with a stronger metal than the peice or aluminium that was removed.
Ive got 2 years of mechanics experience, i know what things are dangerous and what things are fine.

Delve of course it can weaken the hub, hes took a peice of metal out of the hub. Yes hes replaced it with another peice of metal but how long is it going to stay in there? If that falls out it could do some damage inside the hub and to the bearings. And rudi ffs your meant to be a mod, what impression does name calling that give people of the forum? If you want to risk people lives put it back in the how to sections!!!! incase you hadn't noticed as a mod you have the privelage of moving threads around it isn't just seiki that can move threads.
And delve what bandwagon would this be? At the end of the day i aint gona sit here and argue with you lot on why it will weaken the hub i've got better things to do. You want it in the how to section put it there yourself.
For anyone who cares, this stayed in for another 3,000 miles before my mate side swiped a car rebounded off and planted the bike into a small brick wall, at which point the front forks and axel bent and the tooth I inserted into the hub to drive the speedo finally came loose.
It's pretty much safe to say its a solid fix aslong as you don't plan on riding into walls anytime soon.
