Sorry, no photos, was too keen while doing it, if you see what I mean ;)
Easy enough though - the only pisser was I didn't have a donor engine and had to buy the engine internals for the tach from Yamaha dealer, cost about 50 quid! The clocks are off a 2001 model, and one or two of the wires need rearranging, but at least i got a freetemp gauge into the bargain. Oh, and the clutch needs to come off to get the drive worm gear in position (b1tch if the engine out of the frame).
Most of all - if you're even remotely handy with the spanners, you'll do both jobs easily. And if i can offer any advise in the meantime, please ask!

You actually took off your speedo with the hi temp light in the corner ... & the idiot light cluster ..
& replaced the whole lot with Pre 04 clocks ?
Sounds good ..
because i have a Pre 04 engine kicking about ... [Pre 04, but not too early as it has the later shaped 2T oil pump cover arr' !] which has the kicker, so will have the tacho drive too !?
Did you have to fit a different temp' sender ????

I done away with the post 04 speedo and lights assy altogether, and fitted the pre-04 instead. You need to be creative and make a couple small brackets cos the whole assy is slightly longer. I'll take some photos of mine on Saturday and post them.
I kept my original speedo assy cos the mileage was lower (vain) and now have a temp idiot light but not connected - simply rerouted the wire to the temp gauge in the tacho. The pre-04 engine will have the tacho drive, etc in, but the whole lot is mounted on a pin which is pressed into the crankcase, if you can get this pin out it can be re-used, otherwise you'll need a new one. The post 04 cases still have all the castings in place for the pin, etc. No new temp sender in the cylinder head is required - both models have the same piece fitted, its resistance is the same, only earths a different gauge, thats all.
Kickstart assy is a piece of cake to fit - again all the castings are in place, just remove the blank and put an oil seal in its place, fit the kickstart shaft in place, and while you got the casing open, make sure when you push the kickstart it meshes with the idler gear, and unmeshes when you "take your foot off" again. When you open it up to do it, all this will make sense.

A tip for adding the kickstart, when it comes time to take the clutch off put in gear and slacken the nut off. I left it in neutral and tried to hold it in place with some screwdrivers/spanners and knackered my clutch. Funny thing is i had the haynes manual in the house and just couldn't be bothered to read it lol. Oh well lesson learned.
wHEN I WAS A TEENAGER , MANY MOONS AGO , i got thrown clean off my uncles norton commando after tryin to start it for him (kickstarter) hit compression n then i hit the floor .. lucky it was on the stand , my point is they do need muscles n dts n 2 strokes in general dont ,you just press down !!!
Yeah i hear you man. But like I said I've already purchased the Kickstart lever and the cog. I only need the Idle Gear and the circlips. If you have those bits lying about in useable condition then i'll happily buy those off you :D Be doing me a favor!
Having your bike nicked. So frustrating. When my bike got nicked it was all over Facebook. I found out who it was. Knew where they lived and their names. Couldn't do **** all though. Overwise I'd be branded the criminal.
