hi guys, just bought 4 aftermarket led indicators off ebay for cheap, fitted and look a treat, only thing is when i flick the switch to left or right all four indicators come on at once and they dont flasher. im guessing i need a led spec flasher relay? only thing puzzling me is that they all come on with the switch turned to the left and the right.

you need to take the bulb out under the dash that comes on when you indicate, and then you need the led flasher. Search in ebay yamaha led relay and one should come up i payed £10 iirc

The indicators will work if you take the bulb out they will just flash fast. So you don't need to wait for the part (Y) the relay just slows the flash rate

You can be its difficult.

Easier to put a load resistor into the circuit

Please could everyone help to sort out this new problem of mine as until its resolved im not allowed to ride my bike, mums orders :/ lol

Anyway I bought 2 pairs of arrow indicators off eBay and with it came a free relay, my mate and mate me was fitting them today, here's exactly what happened:

We first changed the relay from standard to the provided LED relay, we removed the original bulb indicators from the rear of the bike, we then replaced them with the LED indicators, After doing that we turned the ignition on to see if they were working properly, the indicators flashed at the right rate front and back, however the relay had an indicator alert beeping sound so we turned the ignition off and disabled the sound using a screwdriver ;) (cant think whats its called but its meant to let the rider know that the indi's are on)

Once again made sure it was all working fine and it was. Then we moved on to the front indicators but before that my mate decided to remove the hawk alarm unit from the bike as i was needing to send it off to get it replaced, theirs wires which were connected up to the indicators and other components of the bike but we left them in place but it was wiring from the alarm. anyway after replacing the front right indicator we decided again to check to see if it was working, this is where the problems started, the indicators now flashed constantly, so every time we indicated right the right indicators would come on like their meant to but they flashed too fast etc. We thought it could of been because of the existing fourth original bulb indicator so we changed it to the new one and still no luck

frustrated so we decided to go back to the old relay and try another off a rs125, both only allowed the indicators to sit constantly on, so every time we indicated right the right indicators would come on like their meant to but it constantly stayed on and also the inidcator 'aware' light on the dashboard didnt work anymore. So we went back to the LED relay and now it was doing the same thing as the others where before it was flashing too fast.

We unplugged the relay from the indicators and turned the ignition on, THE INDICATORS STILL CAME ON but constant!! ??? ?? ? ?? Supposedly when removing relay they shouldn't turn on at all, is that correct??
So we thought the indis were still coming on because there was current still going through the wires which were connected to the battery and up to the indicators but after disconnecting these wires from the battery and by cutting every wire which was connected to any of the four indicators related to the hawk alarm, Still no luck, THE INDICATORS WERE STILL LIGHTING CONSTANTLY???

So here i am with indicators lighting constantly with no relay, and when you connect the relay back up it does the same thing, please people, any ideas, mates baffled and said im going have to take it to a garage because he cant understand why the indicators are coming on??

Please please please, any ideas i would be very grateful :)

LOL! I remember my RS50 did the same sort of thing! Do you know what I did?

Manually cancelled them every second or so! Haha. In the end it turned out the wires in the ignition had come loose and needed soldering back on. Doubt that's you problem though cause you were fookin about with the electrics.

My simple solution when it comes to indicators is to just remove them, don't need them by law (If you remove the pillion footpegs that is)

and good solution but in the eyes of my mum its too dangerous lol, Im determined to get them sorted, looking back earlier at this thread one of the old members woll said to solve his problem of it not working properly is to take out the indicator light on the dashboard, wonder if this could be the same resolvement for me??
