i noticed a kluning sound and vibration in the foot pegs mt first thought was it was my main berings as ther is alot of play in them well i  stuck to 30 all the way hoe pulled the barrel and was amused at what i found my i cant understand why it cracked like that its a genuwin yamaha piston better quality ?   coverd around 1800 miles

Lol. The piston skirts only smash/crack like that when the piston is too small for the barrel. It allows it move around too much. So when you just put another piston in and didnt even take the head off the barrel, it might have been too small lol. Might have had a rebore before, and you replaced it with standard size, and as the rings wore down, it did that lol

I've had that on air cooled 50 ...

Barrel wasn't torqued down right on mine, one corner was on a bigger stud than rest, after thread tore ..  any movement of bore not parallel with con rod, as in one corner lifts slightly ... usually causes skirt damage like that !

flat out at 80 +  for 17 miles the outher day started it i think  


the barrel is perfect and i drove it for anouther 10 miles home at 30mph after it made some evil noises from the engine

tring to find a decent piston i have found wossner ones but cant find a suplyer the standard ones are no better than mitaka imo im back on the road i fitted my spair electric start engine
