make a 2t more reliable? Make it go slow, dont ride it hard, use quality 2t oil, stick to service intervals, keep clean, and if any niggly problems occur fix them then before they get bad . 2t aren't made to be reliable lol

and adding these aftermarket parts that make the engine produce more power also reduce the reliability ;)

And thrash it to hell and back now and again - 2 strokes which are just pootled around on will coke up (carbon buildups) on the piston and cylinder head. This can/might lead to hot spots and perhaps a holed piston.

Don't want to worry you, but thrash the tits off it regular, and she'll love you for it, cos you'll be keeping the combustion chanber clean.

after market parts suck as like on 4t, oil breather kits, oil cooler that kind of stuff, just to make it that extra bit less paranoid

Do you have access to QMI products in UK and eventually also the Royal Purple oils? This QMI is a PTFE (teflone) metal treatment (read more at the webpage). It is not an oil additive. Have used this stuff in several engines and gearboxes, and absolutely only positive results, especially in small engines like these bikes, grasscutters, etc., who is heavily "abused" from time to time.  No, I dont sell the stuff, Im just a blo%&¤ happy user, after saved a few engines/gearboxes with it.
I know the amateaur rally enviroment and the gocart-enviroment (and also other enthusiast enviroments) both here in Norway and in other countries use this QMI, and also several of them use the "state-of-art" Royal Purple oil. And its interesting to hear that they can drive twice as long with their top-tweaked engines with these oil and metal treatments.
I have several stories to tell about these stuff, tell me if you want to hear smile.gif

one way to make your 2 stoke relible

buy a 4 stroke

thats the fun of having a engine that has a high bhp to cc ratio. its going to break now and again

2 strokes are not unreliable, its that they have shorter service intervals.

Keep an eye on the top and and do a tear down and rebuild every I dunno 15k miles and you will be fine.

Simple to work on and easier to fix thats why I like 'em so much
