i put all 02 electrics ( kickstart model ) on my 1991 dtr ,,flywheel , stator plate , cdi ,rectfier, everything .. the only part missing is the reed switch on the clocks . the bike was runing fine before ( off road with no loom ) but now it wont start . ive checked the carb and its all good ,, i have a strong spark.. ive been told the reed switch being disconected wont stop my bike from starting / running and on the 4 wire block on the loom it has the conections for the wire coming from the cdi to the reed switch and then from the reed switch to the powervalve servo ( which hasnt been put on yet ) and i belive the outhere two wires from the plug are for the instrument display light ( speedo ). also the ignition isnt conected as i need to buy 1 but that wouldnt stop the bike from runing if unplugged anyway. you can hear it want to start as i keep kicking it bit still no joy :( . ive had the pipe of to c if the rings have been snaped but look ok and theres no marks on the barrel as far as i can see.
yes robin there are the two blue wires that need to be and are conected to the kill switchall electrics are pluged in apart fron indicators ,reed switch ,the light that goes in the speedo and the ignition isnt there as i need to buy 1 still . the bike wont fire at all but sounds like its going to after kicking it for a few mins i get smoke coming out of the exaust. and when i give it a good kick with the lights on i can see them light my garage up but still not fire up aaarrrrrrgggghhhhhh lol .
i pushed it to the top of a big hill and tried bumping it today ,,still no luck
i also put the old stator and cdi back on and removed everything else ,,fired up second kick , but it has no loom ,,will put the outher 1 back with the loom on and see if i can get her going as i no the engine is still fine ,, it must be an electrical problem .
is it suposed to be a live going to the cutout switch ???
