Had to remove my dep chamber :-(
Permalink

Well the other day my DEP exhaust chamber split and started blowing really bad and made my bike sound like a tank. I tried to wrap some gum gum round it but it blew that strait away aswell. Next day it got way worse and blew a 1inch wide hole in it!!

Ive bought a standard yammy expansion chamber 2nite for 30 notes which has a weld round the fat part so im assuming its been gutted. Fitted it just and my bike has defo lost power in the top end of the rev range and its defo slower revving aswell cry.gif

Am a bit gutted tbh!! Will get some pics up ov the dep 2moz!!! Wanna try and get it repaired but i think its had it really!!!

its going to cost a bit and depending on who you go to,

or if you can find a metal fabricators they might be cheaper by the hour, tell them to get on with it in there on time, and im sure it wont cost much. if it aint bad then a simple plate can be welded. how far are you from Sevenoaks, i know a good fab/welding company round my way, who ive used before, re-welded up a gutted car exhaust for £12

if you know some one personally then it wont cost much at all. it may decrease the value if you ever sell it sepratly but who cares, its cheaper then a new front section!

Anything metal can be repaired by welding a patch over the top of it but might need a good welder as it looks proper thin and could just blow the metal away when you start to weld.

What happened to the rest of the exhaust - did you find it at the bottom of the sea?

Lol does look a bit scabby in those pics! It is absolutly filthy at the moment tho when i give it a clean with brasso wadding all the **** comes off and it shines again apart from underneath where all the crap gets flicked up its just gone rusty there, but when its on the bike you cant see it lick.gif

Tbh it wasnt in the best of conditions when i bought the bike, close to where it joins the engine and underneath were scabbing a bit then (10 months ago) and has gradually got worse!

Gonna get it welded so its solid and give it a good scrub and polish.

Whats the DEP like in terms of noise versus extra BHP?

I work in a school so dont want to look a d##k coming in with a wasp in a baked bean tin type sound!

dep pipe makes a world of difference. it will make your bike sound more crosser sounding so its your choice, defently wont sound wasp like

When you say world of difference what do you mean exactly? More revs / more power etc??

Well I got it welded today and its all solid again. I'm gonna give it a mint up b4 it goes back on. Will get a pic of the repair up later.

My bike revs higher and faster with the dep on over standard, it also makes the bike pull much harder when th pv opens, it also makes the band last longer and the power don't drop off towards the redline. It pulls hard into the red!

@ mat, Yeh it felt so good once I went out with it back on. I really can't believe how much difference a dep front pipe makes in performance. It looks so much better with the nice shiney dep back on aswell! It actually made my bike feel boring to ride with the standard exhaust on.

@ Ben, i recommend one 100% mate!
