Did you also check that the top of the cylinder was perfectly flat as well as having the head skimmed?

Dunno what Patman is on about as with genuine gaskets you should have no leaks from the start.

Ben mate a few people have told me that in the past, as when you warm the engine up the gaskets have some sort of sealant on it and melts to the cylinder head/barrel so you wont get any leaks........ok so without sounding confusing, I had my rebore, put everything back on....yammy gaskets in etc, everything tight/flat all bolted up properly, then, filled rad up with water, then had the odd tiny drip comming out of the barrel and out of side of head, started it up left it for about 30 mins as told too, the hot engine sealed the gaskets to the head and barrel all good after, does this make sense??

It would leak right at the begining as theres not a proper seal, airtight seal would need to be made to stop anything getting out, so maybe for the first 20 seconds you might have a drip, maybe, that was a pure guess btwblankstare

Hey ben its cool mate, I am still learning just like the rest of us smile.gif it was quite odd you know, it isnt like a leak its more of a weep if that makes sense, I tell you the story behind it, I originally got copies (please dont have a go....I know I shouldnt of) them gaskets leaked, but its when I took them off put some yammy gaskets on there was only a weep type thing, me thinking grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr these aint working the bloke couldnt of done the skimming right etc, a few people said warm the bike up and then it will seal it,  but it would be interesting to know how yours didnt leak or weep at all when you put yours on without the bike being warmed up smile.gif
