if it was me i would just wire it in to the loom thats already on the bike, may sound like a bodge job but it saves on fitting a complete loom just get a wire crimping kit and match the wires .... when i got my bike the cdi had been bodged on with indoor wire connectors so i had to tidy it all up

would that work my 2003 cdi has loads more wires than the early cdi ive got here

I'd go with the early set up as thats what appears to be the most common. If you get stuck I have an early CDI or a 3RM wiring loom which is in 'ok' condition - if you have one thats iffy you could make 1 minter out of the 2 combined.
