Hi got a premix WR200 and want to drop it into a DTR, does anyone know if its been done before and if its a straight swap.......... thought it should be ok, cheers Dan
ive hear rumors but i dout it will fit as it has a longer stroke so crank cases are probs difrent quite alot of the time its idiots go round saying thay put a 200 topend on ther dt nd made it g0 150mph if yeh get were im comeing from
i know alot of the engine parts arn't interchangeable, but can't say for certain but i think the dt 200 shares the same frame (quite a few part numbers are the same ie airbox between that and the 125) and the wr is a similar engine to the dt (same lump different porting and piston) though its possible yamaha made the same frame with different engine mounts, perhaps try searching for yamaha sdr 200 as thats the same engine again someone might be able to tell you if that is interchangeable with a 125 motor
The WR engine is the same as the DT200WR engine (minus oil pump) but is not the same as the DT200R which like fuggle has pointed out is the same as the 125R or very similar.
I've seen a few WR's made learner legal with 125R engines on Gumtree etc so it must be possible.
Reckon you just need the rest of the WR electrics / CDI etc to make it work + the WR has a 30mm carb not 28mm like the 125 has.
