Im toying with the idea of taking the SM rims off my bike and putting the trail wheels back on for over winter.
One reason is so that i can give them a good clean and polish and i dont want them to get ruined by the salt on the roads. But im thinking that i would have more grip on the wet roads with the sm rims, not sure which would be best in snow and ice tho.
Sadly putting my bike away isnt an option. Im gonna leave the sm rims on i think and just try and keep them clean and salt free! The nobblies wud prob be a bit better in the snow but sm's better in the wet and hopefully we wont have much snow, havent had any yet.
Yeh i no mate but i keep the trail wheels in my mom and dads garage i live a few miles away in a flat, they live down a steep windy road down onto an estate and its a knightmare in the snow! Another thing is the front wheel needs a new innertube.
Well got to try out the sm wheels on the snow tonite and they are absolutly rubbish. When i came off the main roads onto snow/ice covered roads on my estate i couldnt hardly move and my rear wheel was trying to overtake my front!! I got off in the end and just pushed it while creeping the bike forward in second gear!
Hmmm yeah I too found out how pants SM tyres are in the snow this morn...came off 5 times in about two miles :( the last two miles to work is a country road that doesnt get gritted! First time i came off was doing about 30, just watched my bike slide down the road as i slid after it on my face, but just kept picking myself and the bike up and carrying on my way with the bike taking damage each time, front brake lever bent, foot pegs jammed up, mirrors snapped ect. But the fifth time i went down, i bent the gear lever to the point where i couldnt change gear; time to push lol. Dont know what to do...dont own a car so start cycling i guess!
I think if i hadnt and got off and pushed that would have been me aswell, lol!! Shame about the damage to your bike, my footpeg jammed up when i came off on that diesel a few weeks ago was a right bitch to get down!! They are tough old things ay they the old dt's!!
How long would it take you to push your bike once you get to the really dodgy bit?
lucky people wish i could get the chance to find out, we got the snow but my bike in bits atm as my head gasket and powervalve cables are stuck in the post atm as as sorting office is in toltal caos atm been waiting a week aready they were only going to be 24-48 hours when i ordered them from the shop ...
Hmmm it would take me at least 45 mins to push it lol...I'll just get a lift in with this fit bird instead for a bit :) But yeah I fixed everything, just the front brake lever is all bendy cos I could only get it so straight so I've ordered a new one. No biggie. :)
Nice dog! I wanted to get a vizslar to go shooting with, but can't justify a dog atm.
The farm the brewery Is located on has 4 black labs, a spanador, 3 fox hounds, a whippet and mongrel sheep dog thing... We named one of our beers after it (UBU) lol...anyway! Just hope the snow stops soon.
