Hi, all put the dt back together now, she looks stunning with a kawasaki green frame and white plastics, but i still have a problem with the head gasket blowing, i rebuilt the engine and had it running but very roughly, took it apart and the head gasket had gone, put it back together this time with head gasket and sealer, went well for a few hours but gasket has blown again, it was a pattern gasket and looking at threads on here everyone says to get a genuine gasket and skim the head, will i have to skim the barrel too? all i done before was to flat them with sandpaper but obviously this didn't work although they looked fine when a flat edge was put across them, want to get it right this time, going to get the gasket tomorrow from south wales superbikes so want to get it together before christmas, any help or tips would be appreciated, cheers
Hi zo0op, I sandpapered it last time as I do with car heads and my ktm but it still blew, just thought if it were skimmed I'd know for definite it's right but didn't know whether to do the barrel too, it seems fine with a flat edge across it but don't want to keep pulling it apart every 4 hours, gets a bit monotonous after a while I imagine, cheers

I've got a genuine head gasket and the head skimmed today, going to put it back together tomorrow, it was warped to hell but nice and flat now, he didn't recommend doing the barrel, any tips whilst putting it back together? If it goes Pete tong this time I'm wheeling it out in the field and throwing a match in the petrol tank, cheers
