My first bike :D
Permalink

Got my bike delivered today, its a 2007 DTR125 in black, not perfect condition but im happy with it for now :D
Absolutly buzzing. Not sure what the plans are yet but think im going to remove the sticker kit. Couple of pics here:

First question of many, how do you get to the 2 stroke oil tank? I cant work out how the seat lifts off? Or do i have to take the side fairing off to get to it?

Hey jack congrats on your first bike looking good mate biggrin

You will need to remove the rear left side panel to access your oil tank bud, the coolant bottle is under the rear right panel.

You don't need to remove the seat, but it is secured by two bolts directly underneath it, under your seat will be your airbox snorkle.

Nice bike buddy, i think that colour scheme is one of the best yamaha did the dt in. Shmae the tank doesnt match.

A nice shiney dep exhaust would look nice.

yehhh i liked black specially as most of them you see are blue, not kean on the stickers atall so there getting taken off tomorow.

Wanting some of those plastic covers for the forks as i dont like those rubber ones.

I want a dep as this is too quite :p looks like mine has already had its gutts taken out of it and really badly welded back up if you look closly in the pic.

Congrats mate, looks a tidy bike.

I use TTS, good stuff.

Yeah mine is plane black with no stickers, thats the way I like it anyway and its less to scratch up when I drop it in the mud lol.
First things I done to mine was fork socks, looks so much better than the big plastic things, then a tail tidy with built in LED lights, smaller number plate and some small clear indicators, finish off with some hand guards and a dep back box. Tides the bike right up and brings a bit more up to date winner.gif

If you go the SM route I'll have ya tyres off ya, looking for a cheap set of knobbles lol

yehhh im going to go for a complete black out on it if i ever strip it.

Think list of mods are probably so far...new gear kicker thing and peg, fork socks or whatever there called, if i can find some nice ones, tail tidy, exhaust, SM wheels.

someone posted on another fourum that these tyres look illegal? and the front one is a sand tyre with not much tread left :/

Also just looked on the new owners slip and realised its registered as a DTR125 SM..so guess it had sumo wheels on at first and the last owners ditched them. better not make my insurance more :@

If your going to convert to SM you might want to check this out matey as you will need more than just the wheels:

took the stickers off one side, looks much better already, ill take some pics in abit.

Also had a look and the wire at the front has been earthed already which saves me doing it.

Was looking at a manual and it says that the oil light should come on when the ignition is started and then go off, to show its working, mine doesn't come on at all tho?

Also the powervavle should clean its self when the ignition is turned on, would i be able to hear/feel this? i keep turning the ignition on and off but i cant hear of feel it turning.

just took the PV cover off and the plastic bit sticking out that helps to line it up with the hole in the back (if that makes sence) looks like its snapped off, possibly from being pinned open and the servo trying to turn it and snap it.

also the PV deffo doesn't do a cycle when i turn the ignition on, nor does it move when i rev it. any ideas?

Just check that its plugged in if you haven't already, one big plug and a single wire connection if it's anything like mine, if its been pinned in the past they may have just unplugged it.

failing that, remove the cables from the servo and see if thats moving, if not it could be a fault with the servo or the cdi.

Yeah first thing I did when I got mine was remove all the stickers, just didn't like them and agree it looks better without imo. Only one left now is on the tank.

What color is the wire that's been earthed out of interest?

Are you able to take a pic of your PV pulley mate (the black plastic bit), maybe might be able to shed some light on whether it has snapped or not :)
