Oh great so i'm riding to Yamaha to MOT and engine siezes up. Just goes dead, kickstart wont even go down. Pushed it the rest of the way and its now at Yamaha. Gonna pick it up tomorrow as I dont have the money to pay them to repair it.

Hoping its the topend but with my luck it's the bottom.

I just paid £1200 to repair my van after putting unleaded in it by accident.

Not my month at all evileye

wondering if I should just source a newer engine

exactly the same as me mate, kick start would not go down and i thought it was the top end. well actually it was but the piston has a whole in the top (post pic later) and all the crap fell into the bottom end and got caught up in the bottom end and seized up, needed a complete rebuild :/

Yeah haha, well at least its not your only transport, it was mine when I had to rebuild it.

Get the head skimmed, higher compression, the general rebuild will make it more powerful than it was before. Ask robin about carbs, he had a bigger one fitted to an old dt.. i think anyway.

Ok fluck it full rebuild it is then, this sucks a$$ :(

revving it you could hear all sorts of noises coming from the engine and it was getting difficult to pull off in 1st let alone any other gear.

I hate problems

Last year it had around 14k on clock before I sold them so I reckon add another 1k to that as I hardly use it. Engine prices are £350 up from what I can see on the bay ffs

Didn't you rebuild you engine then at the time you built you bike with all new parts?

Fuel pump etc on van had to be replaced and near enough most hoses, filter etc :(

The engine is the only thing that didnt get rebuilt. It's run absolutely fine all year and then today happens. I couldnt rebuild it last year as I was seriously tapped out in dough and the fact it worked gave me the break I needed.

Trust me nobody's luck is as bad as mine at the moment but siht happens I guess, hopefully it gets sorted.

I got as far as putting my hand on the unleaded pump once one early morning, my car is diesel...but that was it before realising to myself what I was about to do. I thought it would have been a case of, oh i'll just get some hose and suck it all out. How wrong I am! Yeah hope things get sorted dude.

On the plus side, after a rebuild and a run in your bike will run sweet bet you will notice the difference.
