I would recommend you do some serious work to the reed block, otherwise you wont get any improvement. The reason is that the cross sectional area of the 6 windows in the reed block is about the same as the standard 26mm carb, so it is the bottleneck of the induction system. So a bigger carb wont get any more airflow through those poxy little windows. Anyway, famous last words, im sure someone will prove me wrong......
Good luck with it!

Sorry - you are right about the 28mm standard - I was getting confused with another engine.

How about this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/yamaha-rd-selection-reed-blocks-rubbers-200-350cc-/150563115660?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item230e42d28c

A selection of Yamaha reeds and reed blocks. Might find something that breaths a bit better than the standard DT??!!

as previously stated, will you get any power gains if your keeping the same manifold, i cant see it letting much more air in

bored the hell out of it...
much wider than standard opened it all up...
Also did a bit of work on the reed block by enlarging the windows and cutting the point so air flows straight out, THANKS GRAHAM BELL!

Nice one. Let us know what it goes like. Just be a bit cautious on the jetting as it will be jetted for a 250 and on a smaller engine it could run weaker. Yes, Graham Bell's book has got some good stuff in it. Just wish I had a rolling road to try out a few things. One on ebay at the moment .................hmmm
