DT isnt built for speed, if more is what your after then buy an Aprilia 125.. or do your bike test, dts just wont do it, but consider the running costs of a bike like that.

for a 125, DT's are pretty good and have excellent acceleration... if our taalking about top end, why not go up on the front sprocket?

Both replies above are spot on. The DT in unrestricted form is about 20bhp, the new Aprilias are 29.5bhp. Not sure what mods you would have to do to get the DT up to the same power. Its worth a phone call to Stan Stephens who will give you good advice in my opinion.

good answers^, if you get the engine ported youll probs see a good 3-4-5 bhp extra, also if you get it prorted your better of running a biger carb say 34, or so.

THEN YA CAN POWN HIM!

if u want a faster bike get an aprilla my rx just eats the miles and i can stay at 70mph all day at about 1/4 throttle and tops aout at about 90 with the new engine ive built i think it will pull more top end but i will have to change the sprokets as the way the engine is it runs out of power at 10k then i need to upshift

You will probably get a difference with the Boysens if you tweak the reed stops. As standard they only open to about 5mm or so. The Boysens should allow you to go to 6mm or more - not sure if they come with instructions about reed stop setting or not (anyone know??).  The problem with standard reeds if you open up the reed stops is that they flutter at high rpm, wont seal properly and you lose bhp. You wont need to re-jet as the mixture wont be altered - you should just get more of it through the engine.
