Its always one thing after another with these DT's but now I seem to have a problem with my back brake lever sticking when I push it down it stays there and doesnt spring back up again so if I do have to use the back brake of course I got to pull it back up again into place with my foot otherwise the back brake will stay locked........I am guessing and as a guess cos of course I still learning like we all are, its the pistons maybe in the back are not going back in on there own? Please reply if you do know would be great, but please dont guess if your not sure, just leaves us all going round in circles. Many Thanks Gang!!!!!
Thanks mate thats what I thought........but then for some reason I thought did the rear brake lever have a spring on it, but obviously not, but thankyou this I will try
If you whack the caliper with a mallet it should free up, when applying the brake again it will stick. repeat it a few times and see if it gets better if not then strip it down.
Mine was stationary for 3 months and i couldnt move the bike for S**t, used the mallet and it cleared till i put the brake back on then it was stuck again.
Thanks mate thats what I thought........but then for some reason I thought did the rear brake lever have a spring on it, but obviously not, but thankyou this I will try
the rear brake lever does have a return spring m8 should be mounted right by wer the push rod is mounted for the brake cylinder
Hmmmmmmmmm has anyone got a pic of what the spring should look like, cos I deffo dont seem to have no spring there.............plus a silly question after taking the piston out and cleaning the whole lot etc, before I put the piston back in, do you lube it with anything or just leave it as it is, as I dont know too much about brakes, and is it easy to take the brake off and dealing with it, with the fluid hose still on as really dont wanna bleed it again means I got to go buy a bleeder cheers everyone
I took the caliper off the bike but the cable was still attached. I pumped the brake so that the piston slightly came out so i could clean it. Pumped it again and the piston just came out lol. Took the o'ring out, the'll be some crap behind it that will have to be scrapped out but be careful when doing it. Put the ring back in and use brake fluid on the piston as a lube, block of wood behind the caliper and big set of mole grips over the lot to squeeze the piston back it.
As for the bleed kit mate, £1.20 for a Meter of some see through hose from homebase, empty old jar and your sorted.
