I've just got new Pistons/Rings and still have a slight knocking noise in my engine. I'm really not in the mood to be giving someone £150+ for a bottom end rebuild, and I stupidly sold the Engine that came with my bike when I originally bought it the other day (I had a "better one"; referb'd one) so, does anyone in the Devon/Cornwall area have a pre-assembled nice, fully working no knocking bottom end they'd like to sell me?
cheers now

I'm pretty sure it's the bottom end tbh, I'll get a vid now tho, the last DT I had, when I had a slight rattle, I did piston/rings and it went pretty silent, couldn't hear nothign from it, now it just sounds awfull

Did you rebuild this one yourself? If not you need to take it back!!

Looks like a seals/gaskets gone or the oil pipe snapped

I think I might have found the oil splatter problem.. I think it's spitting out of the Exhaust, I'm going to remove it tomorrow, put old one back on, and then fill it with anti freeze (wont rust the inside) and see if it leaks..

And nah I've never re-built/stripped/touched, this Engine (Appart from barrel/piston (Original Piston Size too, never been re-bored)) it's completly standard (I believe), was taken outta my old DT-R I had many many many years ago to be cleaned up (i was about 13 then), and while it was out, some pikey stole the rest of the bike :/ so it's been sat up in my shed for about 10 years

I'm highly considering just taking it out, stripping it down and just replacing everything inside, give it a complete rebuild and generally freshen it up and possibly get me a 170 kit... Getting annoyed riding a 125 on a full licence need moar powah/speed! :P

Are bottom end rebuilds "easy" to do? And can I do it myself? I.E stripping it appart, cracking it open etc, I know I'll have to take it somewhere to get the Bearings pressed in or w/e, which will only cost like £20p/h labour (unless anyone from here would like to do it [if you can] for a nice fee?) and I believe a mechanic can do this in like 20mins (could be over exaggurating here, not sure), so that wont really cost me nothing, I almost gave in today and called a garage and got quoted £358.46 for them to do it... And they said they'd be using pattern parts, not even OEM :S so hell naw to them..

cheers now

Piss easy to do yourself

Book it in for an hour £20-25 to crack it but not strip the parts. Just to remove the flywheel and all bolts. take loads of pics of that.

Then strip it yourself, I seperated it into 3 sections and store the parts accordingly

No point getting them to remove the bearings till you have new ones to put back in.

its really not that many parts once its fully stripped

Ok then, I think that tomorrow and onwards it's time for major rebuild. I've just got myself a 2.5k Tax Rebate, so I gotta lotta money to waste... And I've just been diagnosed with post-viral fatigue syndrome so, I've gotta lot of spare time on my hands, no work and all play make my days niiiiice...

+ 1 more thing, your rear-side panels, if I were to buy myself a set of rear plastics, could I mail them to you ( plus enough so you can mail them back x] )and you cut them down for me? I attempted it, and it looks nowhere near as good as yours. And + mine are sprayed aswell, I need proper white plazzers.

Stiff and hard to get into neautral sometimes too, and their were some tiny shards of metal in the oil when I drained it, and I'm pretty sure thats usually gearing issues?

They were only £30 for a full set, can't really argue with that price tbh
