EVen if your bottom end is fine now.Fitting and kit , let alone a big bore id always at least .

FIt new bearings ect, even better perfomce crank ect .As the engine is going to be getting alot hotter ect

The bottom end now will wear down alot quicker, just some advise

yeah - I was thinking that tbh, mines got a heafty noise comin from it now, I'd end up stuffing the kit on then BOOM sieze and ruin the lot, I've got my new crack etc en route, as soon as thats here, I'm going to order the Kit then do it all at the same time, I can run both kit and bottom end in properly together then, it'll be a complete Athena Engine.... mmmm sounds nicceeeee

I'll be doing many of vids when it's all completed :D just wont be going very fast, and I even think I may add servo's back on for YPVS so I have some restriction to the bike, that way it'll last alot longer. I'm deffinatly going to rid the DEP Pipe once it's all done and go back to standard gutted pipe, engine will be worth like £800/900 once done, don't really wanna blow it up and ruin it within a fair short amount of miles

lol yeah the dude lives just down the road from me, no idea why he said it was that fast the fool, he listed loads of **** about it aswell, yet like only about 40% of it was legit, he was asking 1300 for it if i remember, but i swindled him down 400 bean x]
got the bike check over against the ebay list at garage too, and the mechanic was like *serious face* "is this a joke?" i just nodded and agreed knowing fullwell that half of the listing was crud, only fact about it was that it was "fast" and very reliable, rest was just noncence

imo as long as your not buying the kit to make your bike faster do it if our doing it to make your bike faster sell the dt and put the 400 towads a better bike

Ofc I'm doing it for speed, but then again I'm doing it to make the DT alot better, more superioir and..well... better, it'll be something good to add, and make the bike alot nicer and reliable.

Put the money on doing your bike test or towards a bigger bike if you have already passed.

It wil make your bike better than stock. It's no diffrent to changing the exhaust or even deristricting the DT. It's just another modification that costs a little more.

Every mod is technically a waste of money but we all do it.You can buy a bigger bike just like I can buy a harrier, but I dont have the money or want a harrier lol

wont make it more reliable though mate

Already passed + investing in in a Bandit GSF 600 S pretty soon
And I've had DT's since I was a wee toddler, so this is sorta a "dream" for me to have a complete spanking pretty fast reliable one for me to nip around on.
Most of my mates all have them too and a couple of them are like 25 - 30 YOA, and they have just as much fun on their DT's as they do there 1000cc's etc etc.
And having seen Seiki's just makes me want it even more

Also factor in that people who seriously consider the Athena already have a jiggered top end. So they'd have to fork out for a topend anyway. Its only £412 if you have a running bike if you see what I mean lol

imo, it'll be money well spent if all goes well, i'm 95% confident in building it all myself, i just hope i don't mess up anywhere and kick it over then head a backfire ( can 2 strokes even backfire? O_o ) then sieze the engine D:

Yea they can

Just premix for a bit , and put some 2 stroke on re build

I would premix the engine for good , dunno if the pump is good enough ?

the 170 athena kit are realy good i have fitted one of these to my friends dt. but there is a down side he had it for about a month and a half, ran it all in but then because he liked the pulling power he always pined his throttle back as much as he could and im guesing most of us would. anyway after a months and a half he done a couple of thousend k then thort he would give it a ring change then when he took the barrel off he looked at the bore and notist thats some of the nickle plating had been gone missing so he had to then send it back off to get re nickled. so its all good having all that power but you got to think of the bad side to it.

I'm a "responsible" rider tbh, I never really wind my bike back to full throttle thesedays, and once I've gotten it all rebuilt, I'm going to be extra carefull with it, specially after spending like £600/700 bean on it, I use bel ray h1r synthetic oil, which is some sweet oil, and i keep my rings maintained, check them as often as I can, so I'm going to be extra carefull once I've gotten it all done, and I'll probably check the rings/barrle every ride or couple rides, just to make sure she's all gravey.

if you did that, you would literally get OCD with the inside of your engine. The smallest scratch or mark on your bore and you will be absolutely para lol and not to mention the cheese that yammy call bolts

the knocking noise could be ur small end bearing iv had this prob many of times and i used to think it was going to blow or summin lol get a new bearing and should be fine and for the athena kit all you need to worry about is the nickle plating m8 and ye the ring change every 2-3 thousend miles but i loved my speed of my dt but when i put the kit on my mates bike and had a go i dint want to get of it lol. it is emence the amount of pull it has and you will need to gear it up with smaller rear sprocket for defo otherwise you will just kill the bottom end. and in the result of my friend ragging the **** out of ended up in peaces lmao was funny tho hahah. not saying you will do the same tho but for other.

Mhmm and you will probably have the same noise after all the £££.
As for checking the rings every few hours/rides, that is completely and utterly uselessly stupid mate, sorry but YZ125's aren't that bad, not far off but still, it's a DT125 you can rag it for 1000's of miles, they wont blow up unless they have got an underlying problem, eg. rebuild top end and not get the barrel done properly, also, its a 2stroke, they always make noises, knocks, this, that the other.
