indeed i am.. , we descovered that it has a top end rattle and was very low on compression , so the 04 barrel n piston is goin in along with a new top end baring and pin but with a bit of tuning work done on them first
these are the parts from the 04 engine , a pic of the old piston will follow to show you where all the compression was goin lol
the 04 piston gad a lot of carbon build up, most iv ever seen in a 2t engine lol
but after a bit of a clean up then a polish...
the head wasnt to bad still very smooth and only a little bit of carbon near the exhaust side
and after a clean and polish
im still going to polish the piston crown some more see if i can get it smoother along with the head but its not looking to bad atm
and these are the pics of the piston with the dodgy ring set, feck knows how this was missed when they wer fitted???
you can see there in the first 2 pics that i had the rings on full squish and there was still a massive gap! also the carbon build up on the side wer the gasses escaped through the gap in the top ring,,went round to the gap on the next ring then out. on the rest of the top of the piston was clean apart from wer the ring gap was, this could also be the reason for the rattle as the rings are weak abd not holding the piston tight in the bore, anyway new top end baring jus to be safe
brush it, snotty or what lol, hopefully ive got some green yamaha stickers coming from porky and a special green website sticker, thanks to bradders. Everyone goes for the usual blue/red so i though id do it different.
Only Way - i used a brush as it comes in a tin, real thick sticky stuff. No shop does the green paint but you can get a folia tech one but its way expensive like £30?, i was browsing ebay and found a tin of it that some shop had made up for a fiver. the tin is less then half the size of a lynx deodorant can and has done all 4 of my car calipers and 2 for me bike, all having 2 coats!! ive still got just under half of it left lol. Hmmmm what else shall i do lol
Nice job there mate!, that a silk finish? am a big fan of plasti-cote especially the black BBQ
heat paint, it's the only one I've found that comes out a shiney black on exhausts compared with all the others which give a matt black finish i.e hammerite
Its cracking stuff mate, I'll try and take some pics of an exhaust with it on, obviously the more layers the better! as a rule myself, I give at least 6 coats with about 10-15 mins between each coat, btw you'll need to wirebrush it totally, i use both a drill with a wire brush attatchment, plus a 4" grinderette with a wire brush attatchment for the heavy pitted bits on the exhaust, comes up like new, well worth the effort.
sexual m8 iv given my dad the heads up about modding the yokes to fit em he said its kl
if i wer u m8 id get some new stem barings for a DTR coz ur ones are fooked u gotta get a caliper and axle to fit thos aswell, hopfully that wheel i got shoud fit
