Not insane, just higher.

I'm a little dubious about these 170 kits to be honest. Obviously they work, but there is certain aspects that wouldn't sit right with me, such as the fuelling for starters.

And then there's the exhaust, my DT exhaust is a massively different size and shape to the exhaust on my 250 MX bike. And considering your increasing the size of the bore quite considerably, I'd want to change the exhaust to suit the size. Things like your back pressure would change with increased bore size, and the general airflow of the combustion process.

The other thing that would bother me is the counter-balance shaft is designed for a 125cc output, when you increase to a 170cc, imo the counter balance shaft would be insufficient, I'm sure it would cause increased wear on other engine components.

But that's just my two cents anyway....

for fuleing u just upjet or get a mikui 36mm carb of the bay for £50ish the pipe should be fine as its only 45 more cc aslong as its a gutted standard or a dep mabey even the athena exhaust off weemoto wold work best with it not to sure and as long as u get that stronger raceing crank for like £110 it should be fine and run nice all these peds with 170 kits on they change the bore and carb and that is it and they run nice my friends ones hes had it about 2 years now and it runs sweet and neaver had a problem he changes the gasket and rings once a year

you have a point mamoth200 I think the 170 head could cause trouble with the counter-balance shaft in the long run. on the whole i think it could be quite costly to modify the rest of the bike to acomadate the new head. if say i had a spaire engine would give it a go and if it goes bad your bike is not of the road for to long.
