Sprockets...new topic??

Hi all...so searched for a while for old sprocket posts but they all seem 12 months+ old, or not relevant to me. So anyway, now im living in london, i pretty much never go above sixty. dont wanna take my bike much over that anyways...and chain and sprockets are getting a bit thin now anyways...so time for a re-placement and thinking about changing how it is sprocketed. What are you guys running? Im on Yammy stock front and rear atm on my 05 dtx. Looking for more low end power and wheelie action :) what do you guys suggest? My local yammy dealer (West London Yamaha) said he could do something...get me some custom race ones done for £90... thoughts opinions?

Get a standard set from ebay or wherever is cheapest then drop the front sprocket by a few teeth, A front sprocket can be bought for less than £5 so you can test how much front end action you want

Try a 14 front tooth, it's what i'm running on my sumo setup :) I was thinking of doing the opposite to you, wanting all red chain and sprockets in standard for top end. This setup gives insane acceleration and some nice action, i think anything lower than a 14 may not be worth it, but as i've said Syphy give a 14 a try, i'm sure you won't be dissapointed with the outcome! biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Tbh m8 I'm running 16 front standard rear, pv pinned open (not sure wat standard sizes are) and wen I'm on the track I'm getting front end action no probs,
U wanna be carefull wen goin "a few teeth" different on the front, 1 tooth smaller on the front is the equiverlant to 3 more on the back and vice versa, so droppin 1 tooth on the front will change it drastically , I'd say try a 15-16 front, standard rear then fine tune it with different rear sprockets buy a few cheap n cheerful ones to get ur desired set up then go for posh ones once ur happy with it

Standard back sprocket
2 teeth of original front sprocket = £5

Do that and it will wheelie of power, can wheelie myne in 1st and second with no clutch just boncing of powerband and still does 80+ mph ;)

A standard rear with a 14 tooth front and you're still getting 80mph+ ?

Either you weight half a stone, you're bull****ting or you haven't got a DTR engine in there! Lol

Orrrr.....DT typical spedo over-read?? anyway, so 56 or 67 what ever it is on back, and then just get a sprocket with two teeth less than i currently have on front? easy.

Also energized, have you phoned up about the helmet yet? If not can you ask them if they have a spare peak i can buy as mine cracked when my head hit the tarmac at 60 lol

Omg Syph had no luck mate, i've tried atleast 50 websites and the helmet isn't stocked in the country and they're not sure if they'll be getting anymore in anytime soon, i phoned that site up, aswell as a few others to double/triple check! no I guess if i want one i'll have to be lucky on egay and get one shipped from Italy doh Althought i'm tempted to go for the Airoh S4 stripe, only problem there is i can't seem to find a dark visor for it fml no haha

Not sure then because my dt125re does 80+ mph easy I must have got a 15 front sprocket then because it does 80+ and wheelies in 1st and 2nd on bouncing off powerband!!!

It's fully de-restricted with full dep, earthed powervalve wire to frame and re-jetted....

And I'm not bull ****ting guys believe me, I must have got a 15 front I got it from SMC bikes last year so can not remeber cry.gifcry.gif
