89' DTR into a true offroad bike.

Well, i just got a DTR from eBay for £132.

It had a DEP expanny and big one end can. brand new front knobbly and brand new front rad scoops. but, that was about the extent of it. was a non-runner (thought to be carb problems) but when i get the engine out, we'll soon see... the carb is new according to the previous owner, and it looks new, but not like the usual carb im used too seeing. The bike is full of rust which im hoping too sort, and the brakes are knackered. it did have all the plastics but they were a bad spray job, along with the swinging arm and tank, seat was ripped.

So, first pic to start. it doesnt have the panels on, but you get the idea. 1.jpg

The fork seals were gone, but good job i got a genuine set just sitting waiting to be used. i did get a full tank of petrol and a haynes manual for free though. :D

4.jpg

So, had just took the dep off, (so i could clean up, make look mint and put on mine xD) also just took some of the odd little bits off.

5.jpg

And, this is where im up too now, (not bad considering the little time ive been with it) Brakes were an absolute nightmare, they had pretty much rusted onto the bike. Its got alo of random wires which dont seem to do much. a bit concerning as i dont know where what goes.

I got an order of which i plan to do now, so, just took the rad off, now gonna go with carb, 2T then engine. forks and swinger seem simple and gonna get lots of bits shot blasted and powdercoated (hopefully)

Just a note, if anyone wants me too take specific piccys on doing thing, just let me know as im an amatuer to this, but know people like me could do with a helping hand when doing this sorta thing. :D
