Right, i've got this DTR that i'm gonna use off road so changed gear oil and fork oil and generally tidied it up. Then i noticed an oil leak from the RHS cover - turns out oil pump is leaking from the top. Did some research and oil pumps are apparently non-servicable so got one off ebay (6 quid result).
Came to change the pump, drained the 2 stroke tank and ....... black 2 stroke oil (??????). I've never seen black 2 stroke oil before, anybody else? I'm assuming it's a mixture of sh!t oil/brake fluid/fork oil etc. Not surprised the pumps knackered, that little concoction must have rotted the seals. Grrrrrr.
Anyway, changed the pump, new 2 stroke oil (red ) and it's fine.
Golden rule - check/change any oil in a 'new' bike - some w#nkers will use anything!
