i keep topping up my gearbox oil and the next day its back at the bottom of the sight glass no visible oil leaks,engines only done 4,000 miles any ideas anyone.
Think its only 750ml of oil you'll need, can't remember exactly. If the bike is chuffing out mountains of smoke then you've got a problem, but you'd know about losing that much oil that fast, it doesn't just disappear! When you look at the sight glass from the other side, when you have the casing off, you can see its not the most fantastic system, as there is a metal plate behind it, I think its there to stop the level fluctuating too much (visually anyway) when you tip the bike from side to side

hello got a problem with my bike....similar to this i think...basically i noticed a lot of white smoke and milkyish gearbox oil so i replaced the head gasket and changed the oil but the oil has gone back to milkyish again...also a lot of white smoke....trying to get bike ready for mot....any ideas?
if the oild milky then its deffo water getting in, but if its burning smoke it will be the right hand crank seal letting tranny oil in the crank cases
if the gaskets re used on the clutch case it can oftern leak water on the front section where the water goes thru, i always put a smear of instant gasket on that bid, for extra sealing
the water pump seal and shaft can wear out also causing water to get in
check all the above, make sure all surfaces are clean b4 fitting gaskets
check for head/cylinder warpage on a piece of glass
yeah could do matebuy some wynns engine flush, get the engine hot and then tip it in and run it for a couple of mins, no riding tho, drain and flush and repeat again iff needed
could also be the waterpump shaft if thats worn as it wears a groove in it off the seal over time, best replaced 2gether really if there bad
