De-restricting for the MOT 2007 DTR
Permalink

Hi guys, as my bike failed the MOT and i don't yet have a CBT (booked for sunday) is there a way i can de-restrict the bike so that a friend can ride it down with me on the back then re-restrict it when i get home,

This is due to insurance issues...

when the bike was first MOT'd my father rode it down who is on the same policy as me, due to having a Traders policy anyone is insured on the vehicle as long as they are accompanied by myself (odd right??) as long as they have the relevent licence to drive that vehicle.

This is brilliant for cars, as i just sit in the passenger seat but for bikes i need to go 2up and want a bit more poke just to go to the MOT station and back...

Cheers.

You can get an MOT without insurance and CBT or at least i have before..
Restriction is a green/black wire behind the clocks, you will see 4 wires going up to the lights or somewhere and only 3 wires come out of the other side of the connection, the wire that doesn't come out of the other side needs earthing to the frame or an extended piece of wire to the -ive terminal
The other restriction is a CAT convertor but i'm not even going into that if you only want it de-restricting for an MOT..

Due to it being 2 stroke they can't test emissions mot has already been done just having a retest on the front wheel. It's just for a friend to be insured i've got to be on the back and wanted a little extra power.
