Hpires rear fender moded to fir RE/X
Permalink

This is going to be my thread about finding ways to mod the Hpires rear fender to fit and look good on the RE and X model bikes.

I have just ordered the fender off of the well know ebayer so hopefully it will arrive in the next few weeks.

This thread will be heavy on pics and hopefully i can give some idea of what you can get it to look like without much modifcation to the side panels of the bike.

i know there are a few out there with this fender on the later model bike but from those i have seen they have not got it looking as i think the best it could.

I have seen one fitted before, its not hard to make it fit...but the side plastics dont flow very well, so this guy had modded his side plastics...but meh. to be honest i was looking into just getting a new fender made up...exactly the same as the one we all have but minus the light...have a look on yours and youll see what i mean...you could almosy just pop the light out, cut it flush then fibre glass or something...ooooor i did start looking at getting what i just mentioed fabricated...but im more likely to get someone to do it / get a better price if like ten of us all order them..!

Anybody know a plastic blowmoulder?

Like you said,if the mudgaurd had the light cutout covered and was put in a moulder it would come out the same without the light,in theory.

received the item today, upon first inspection i was quite suprised at how different the two are and the only way i could find to fit it was to cut it down to roughly the shape of the origional, i have fitted it and in my opinion it does look pretty good and fits snug but the only problem is it is a little loose on the far rear end. trying to think of a way to fasten it down and am open to suggestions. the pics will be up shortly.

one more thing, i had to keep the grab rail as without it looked a little silly and unfinished.

As you can see i have removed the bracket that was welded on holding the rear indicator and i plan on doing the same to the other side, all in all i am pretty impressed with the look of it, it seems to line up well with the grooves in the pattern of both the side pannels and the rear.

I am also glad to keep the grab bar as i find it useful to maneuver the bike into my lockup.

will be taking more pics of the cut areas and how it looks with both the indicators moved and the brake light connected,
i plan on trying not to have to drill the taillight into the fender its self to achive the look i am wanting

but as i said i dont mind keeping the rail as it comes in handy and ws good for pillion,i think im going to have it coated red to try make it look a little better, or do you guys think that would be too much seeing as the frame is black?

Hmmmmmmm I thought them Hpires rear fenders when put on were pointed so they go inline with the seat and not dip at the end???

ahh man i just come up with a cool idea,

Cut the frame after them bolt holes, you'll be able to see the hole in the frame when lookin at it from behind!! Get some or make some round shaped LED that'll flash yellow and slot them in. That will be wicked, might be hard to wire thats all
