Yes, very possible, I've personally done it.
Clutch has to come off which can be a pain but is still relativity straight forward..

Things needed:
Kick Start lever,
Kick Start shaft/return spring thingy,
Idler gear found in pre-04 engines,
Some circlips to hold the idler gear on,
The side casing seal from a pre-04 model,

I saw a kit on eBay many moons ago for around the £35 mark, haven't really seen one as of late though..
But since you're Richie Rich the price wouldn't really matter now would it? wink

If I still had my bike I would do a write up but I don't so I won't..
If anyone is willing to give me there RE and everything required I will do it and show you all the pictures

It consists of:
Taking the side casing off,
Taking the clutch off,
Fitting idler gear,
Fitting kickstart shaft,
Re-fitting the clutch,
Re-fitting the side casing,
Fitting the kick start lever..
DONE!!

What on earth is the Idler gear!

I literally just bought this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200718364942?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

I take it the idler gear is not included in that. Looking at the price I sort of wish I had seen your comment and asked you what sort of price you were after.

Where you get your idler gear from?

Also what do you mean by putting the clutch on wrong?

Did you have to torque the clutch back on?

If so what Nm was it?

The metal plates have to be put on in a specific order to ensure that the clutch isn't thrown out of balance due to centrifugal force.
Still a simple enough job though..

When we did out first engine rebuild we wasn't aware of this. The bike vibrated loads because it wasn't balanced right! So its good to know. I take it all of this is in the haynes.
