Hi folks. My DT has an unusual induction mod that I haven't seen before and so far I haven't seen or heard anybody on this forum or anywhere else mention it. Check out the attached picture of my airbox and airboc-to-carb rubber.
What you are looking at is the hole in the rubber where the little air bottle that bolts to the frame near the fuel tap usually lives. This air bottle has been removed and in the hole is a short piece of 1 inch plastic tube with a fine fabric mesh across it. Now, I understand that this air bottle is reckoned to be restrictive to the air-flow and many people say to block it off, but what about what has been done here - turning it into another air intake??
What do people think to this and what affect do you guys think it will have on mixture, performance, fuel ecomomy etc, any thoughts appreciated.
My thinking is to replace the airbox-to-carb rubber with one from an older DT with no hole in it.
I'm a new member by the way and if you're interested you can read my noobie intro post here fror the story so far of me and my new DT.
