ive just had a full engine rebuild done a week ago and started to run it ive done 100 miles at 30 mph and another 100 starting to take the speed up to 40 -50mph but in a higher gear than normal not hitting the power band ive been told to run it in for 500 miles at 30mph i cant see my self doing that :L any one else got any methods or ideas in running a full rebuild in would really appreciate the advice.
ive heard so many ideas of running in but ill be 36 by the time ive done 1000 miles ahah ive just been doing like 15 miles at max with a stop of between if you know what i mean and just been making sure its not over heating. the only thing is where my dep end can joins its leaking oil really quite badly so im taking it to the garage where the build was done and they can fix it, it didn't happen as badly before.
I put a reply on here about running in a couple of weeks ago and my opinion was backed up by others - dont spend too much time running in! Get it up to temp and dont be afraid to accelerate hard for short periods to get the rings bedded in. Providing its been bored correctly with the right tolerance etc it should nt seize. 100 miles or so is plenty.
thats reassuring :) at the end of the day if its a quality build with proper parts then all should be well i dont believe in something like 800 miles bedding in thats bloody mad :L
+1 on that dingle that was me with the new piston .. Its done 370 km now opened it right up after 350km yesterday once fully warmed up whoosh goin lovley,,, divhed me nearly flipped it in traffic this morning too
more or less did under 5k till 350km , did a few small bursts of power once it was warmed up properly to 7k just to bed the rings in early on... its supposed to give a better seal compression an lifespan doin it that way, from what iv read.
its been on castrol power 1 tts but for runnin in the new piston iv used the semi synthetic power 1 instead for slight less lubrication..
Goin well on 711km now
Do have an issue now thou at about midway through the powervalve it sound like i can only explian as a rally cars popping an backfire,, an is sometime hesitant on smooth power deliviery when this happens

I run my full rebuild in for 500 miles or just under as when i first started going through the gears once i reach 5k revs for 100miles and then for went up a 6k for 100 miles and so on till i got to 500miles then just let it rip. each ride out i did when i was running in was like an hour or so and that got me 20miles or so.
