Hey chaps, not been on here for a while after blowing the engine, losing interest and locking the dt in the shed for 5 months. Last week I got the enthusiasm back again, ordered all the parts and started stripping.
Managed to get it all apart and back together again without to much hassle but now its all back together the crank seems really tight. Can't turn the flywheel by hand and is hard work kicking over even with the plug out!
I've not tried to start it yet as got some wiring to sort out but is this normal with new crank shaft bearings? I had to heat the case and press the bearing in but wouldn't of thought that would of caused the stiff crank? The bearings were ordered through wemoto and seemed similar.
Any help much appreciated, really don't wanna strip it all back down again, if that's the case has anyone got a cheap engine for sale otherwise there is going to be a tidy cheap non running dt on eBay soon as this bike is driving me mad lol.

you sure that the stator plate is dead flush with the casing? When i put mine on it was getting dark and that was my problem.. Cant think of anything else just yet
Cheers for the reply dufferz, unfortunately is was tight before the stator went back on. I'm wondering if there are any different sizes of crank bearing hmmmmmm
It's on a 2002 but with a 2001 engine I think, the bearings seem to go tight after the cases cooled. Maybe when the cases heat and cool a few times if I get it started they may loosen up a bit.
I had a simular problem the first time i rebuilt a rotax 122 engine, so i opened it up again and it turned out id put a shim in the wrong place. I took it out and put the engine back together and it was fine after that.
im sure i've read that Dt's use crank bearings like half a mm thinner than a standard size which you may have purchased however this wont apply if you orderd dt-specific bearings?
did you get plenty of 2stroke on them before putting it back together?
just try running them, they'll either wear in or need replacing as they will if it doesnt run right just check they arent grinding as small bits of metal will be going to your piston as it grinds.
Yeah I thought I'd read the same somewhere about the 1mm difference but I got them from wemoto.com so must be the correct bearings. They were fine when they went in as the case was hot but as it cooled they just went tight so I'm hoping when the engine gets warm they start to ease up a bit. loads of 2t oil on them so they should be ok.
